WEEK OF RESPECT - OCTOBER 2ND TO OCTOBER 6TH
The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (P.K.2010, c.122) requires that the week beginning with the first Monday in October of each year be designated as the Week of Respect in New Jersey.
School districts observe this week by providing age-appropriate instruction focusing on preventing/remediating harassment, intimidation and/or bullying. Our district will observe the Week of Respect from October 2nd to October 6th by providing age-appropriate instruction focusing on preventing and remediating harassment, intimidation, and/or bullying, in both an in-person and virtual setting.
Some of the activities this year will include:
- Sidewalk chalk messages outside the building at various entrances; lunch activity in the main cafeteria alcove entitled "Give what you can, take what you need" along with students in VTN classes creating a video asking staff and students the question "What does respect mean to me". In addition, there will be a homebase activity for all on the subject of "What You've Taught me about Respect". These are just a few of the activities that will be taking place at the high school.
- Crossroads North will be marking the Week of Respect by doing daily announcements related to respect, and by giving students the opportunity to make pledges on ways they can respect themselves and others.
- Crossroads South will be marking the Week of Respect with daily activities related to respect, and will give students the opportunity to be a part of the scavenger hunt that represents our community
- Daily morning announcements and activities created by counselors for teachers for each grade level, focusing on a CARES character value every day during morning meeting time
