Velociraptor
Potential issues & ethics
Do we have a right to bring back the velociraptor?
Many believe that it is not right for us to bring back a creature that has been extinct for so long. They claim that if a creature is not around anymore, it happened for a reason, and that humans do not have the right to decide whether we should bring back the creature or not. It can be viewed as "playing God" if humans try to alter the way of life.
Emotional struggles & potential danger to others
Bringing a creature back from thousands of years of extinction can affect it’s emotions and behavior. Not only do many believe that it is morally wrong to bring back a creature and force it to adapt and struggle with it’s feelings, it could also potentially harm humans. In the event that the emotions of the velociraptor turns to rage, it could turn against humans and other animals, and even go on a killing spree.
Physical & Environmental struggles
The velociraptor is a creature that lived in a completely different environment from us. Before it’s extinction, the velociraptor lived in a habitat which was very desert-like. Remains have been found in areas such as Even if the creature could adapt to the world we live in today, it would occur very slowly, as in thousands of years. This is related to the theory of natural selection, which says that the genes in a creature which are most beneficial for surviving are passed on. If the velociraptor is able to survive long enough in our environment to reproduce, it would take several generations of offspring before we have a creature that is once again fully able to adapt the the surroundings.
