Wangenheim Middle School
Vol X: February 6, 2021
YEARBOOK PICTURE PORTAL EXTENDED TO FEBRUARY 17
Because we will not be able to have a traditional school picture day, we have organized a Virtual Yearbook School Picture Day!
We are asking parents/guardians to upload a portrait of your student by Wednesday, February 17th, 2021(Yahoo and Hotmail accounts are causing problems so if you have one of those, please use or create an alternate email for this one time). Students who do not have a photo uploaded by the deadline will have last year’s photo used. Current 6th grade students must have a new photo uploaded to be in the yearbook, because we do not have access to last year’s photo.
Here are the school picture guidelines:
Do not copy an image from your social media. The resolution will be too low and you will look very fuzzy.
The photo should only include the student’s head and shoulders because the pictures are small on the yearbook page.
The student’s face should be clearly visible in the photo. Please no filters, sunglasses, costume masks etc.
Students cannot make any gestures with their fingers (peace signs, etc.) because the Josten’s company will not print them.
Clothing worn must be school appropriate. No images or references to alcohol, drugs, violence, hate speech etc. are allowed.
*If you have more than one student at Wangenheim, be sure to select the correct student from the banner once you log into the site. Please contact Annette Stevens, 619.605.2250 x3021, in the front office for alternative methods, if you are having difficulty.
We want to include you in our yearbook! Below are the instructions on how to submit a portrait of yourself for our People section.
- On your computer, go to ybkplus.com or from your phone, scan this QR code for access to the portrait portal.
- Follow the prompts on your phone. IMPORTANT! Iphone users. Please make sure the setting on your phone camera is correct. Go to SETTINGS>CAMERA>FORMATS and make sure “Most compatible” is selected (see screenshot at the bottom of this email)
Please contact Annette Stevens, 619.605.2250 x3021, in the front office if you have any questions or difficulties with this process.

This event will take place Saturday February 27, 2021 from 9am to 12pm and is open to ALL 6-11th grade students, their parents and/or guardians, educators, and college access advocates. Workshops will be offered in English and Spanish on a variety of topics including academic preparation and insights into university life, as well as workshops on the Native American, African American, and Chicanx/Latinx cultural diaspora.
We look forward to seeing you on February 27th, 2021. In the meantime, follow us on Instagram for updates and competition opportunities leading up to the event. If you have any questions, feel free to email comienza@ucsd.edu.

DO YOU NEED HOMEWORK HELP?
Mira Mesa HS students are offering free virtual tutoring. A group of Mira Mesa HS students along with Sabrina Bazzo (our new Board rep) created a free tutoring program for students. Our students will be paired with a high school student for one on one personalized support. The point of contact is high school student Sindhu Perubotla. She and Mallory Asis, another high school student, co-lead the program.
Please contact Sindhu directly with questions or wanting to get help.
ORDER YOUR WANGENHEIM YEARBOOK
The 2020-21 yearbook is looking fantastic! A lot of people are asking what could possibly be in a yearbook if we aren't in school. Well, trust us, this book will be one that you will look back on for the rest of your life. We have been collecting photos from students throughout the year and will continue to do so through mid March. We are documenting distance learning, covid, current events, and so many fun topics. Very soon parents will be receiving an email about a portrait portal. This is how we will get everyone's picture in the yearbook. We will have a virtual picture day and everyone will submit a photo of themselves. If we do not get a picture from you, we will use your photo from last year. Keep an eye out for that email. If you haven't ordered a yearbook yet, the link is http://jostensyearbooks.com/?REF=A00789460
