Hand Sanitizer Good or Bad?
How effective is it really?
The Myth: All Hand Sanitizers Are Effective
Well, that's not quite true. Non-Alcoholic sanitizers have an ingredient called Triclosan that not only hasn't been proven to clean your hands, but it has actually been proven to lower your tolerance to disease by harming your immune system. In animal studies, it has also shown that it reduced muscle strength. However, hand sanitizers based in 60% alcohol are good at killling most bacteria.
NO HAND SANITIZER PROTECTS YOU FROM VIRUSES
These guys? This is where the cold and flu come from. Hand sanitizer will do nothing to protect you from viruses
So, what's the best way to protect myself?
The best thing to do is a good, old fashioned, washing of the hands. And not just a quick rinse either. You should rub your hands together, with a generous amount of soap for about 15-20 seconds; that's about enough time for you to sing "Happy Birthday" to yourself one time.
YOU HAVE TO WASH FOR THE PROPER AMOUNT OF TIME OR IT WON'T WORK
Wash your hands! Don't get sick this flu season!
