Eagles' Nest
Family edition - November 2017
Principal's Message
We will continue our use of STEAM in classroom lessons, but what does a "STEAM" lesson entail? Most people assume it is simply connecting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math to a lesson. While it definitely can, it is not limited to those tenants. Our teachers have been focused on adding the "4 Cs" (collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking) to lessons to enhance lessons across all subject areas. If you'd like to know more about Mehlville's STEM/STEAM initiative, click here!
We end the month with Thanksgiving, and in that spirit, I'd like to give a few Thanksgiving facts:
-Americans eat more than 46 million turkeys each Thanksgiving day.
-The largest turkey, according to Guinness, is 86 pounds!
-Californians consume the most turkey in the US on Thanksgiving.
-Only male turkeys "gobble."
-The average turkey weighs in at about 15 pounds.
I hope you take time to enjoy your friends and family during this time!
