Greetings Laburnum Families,

It was great having our students back in the building for a full week. Students have done a great job following our safety protocols and being engaged in their classrooms. We are very proud of our Laburnum Lions.

We also want to give a special CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Burgess-White who has been selected as our Laburnum Teacher of the Year!! She is a phenomenal teacher who goes above and beyond to meet the needs of her students.

LAMP Night & Other LAMP Information

We are excited to present our LAMP Night event on March 24th. This event is hosted by our library, art, music, and P.E. teachers. Each teacher will host a session that is sure to be fun and engaging.

Our art portion will require students to have a few materials to complete the materials. All of our in person students will take their supplies home with them on March 23rd. Our virtual students will be able to pick up supplies on the dates below between the hours of 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM or 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM.

  • Monday: 8:00 – 1:00
  • Tuesday: 8:00 – 1:00
  • Wednesday: Virtual for all students 8:00 – 10:00/ Wellness Wednesday activities
  • Thursday: 8:00 – 1:00
  • Friday: 8:00 – 1:00

Your child may be pulled for small groups after the end of the school day. If this is the case, your child's teacher will communicate this to you in advance.

Remember to send your student to school with a charged device (Chromebook or iPad), charger, and headphones.

Attendance Information:

If your child is sick, do not send your child to school. Please contact Ms. Jones, our attendance secretary, immediately. She can be reached via email at or phone (804) 228-2720.

If you have a planned absence, such as a vacation, prior approval from the principal is required for it to be considered excused. Email Mrs. Boone at

In person students cannot move between in-person and virtual unless quarantined by School Health Services due to COVID related situations. If you, your child, or anyone in your home has been exposed, tested, or contracted COVID. do not send your child to school and contact us immediately.

Instructional Packet Pick Up:

We will resume distribution of instructional packets to support students. Bins will be placed outside by grade level. Locate your child's grade level bin and select one package per LES student. If you arrive between 9 and 4 and the bin is empty, ring the bell and someone will make additional copies. See the dates below.

Meal Distribution Update:

Beginning this week, HCPS curbside meal service will move to Wednesdays only and distribute meals in bulk (7-9 AM and 11:30 AM- 1:30 PM). Laburnum is a meal distribution site. Click the link below to see additional sited.

Message from the School Counselor

Request for Counseling

If you would like your child to see a school counselor, please let us know by filling out the Individual Counseling Referral Form or by contacting us directly. The form is also linked on our school counseling webpage for easy access!

We also created a new counseling interest form specifically for students to use when they want to meet with us! It is linked on our Laburnum Elementary School Counseling Schoology course for students to access when they need it.

Library Books

We will have a bin located at the front of the building to return any library books you may have. You can return books Monday - Friday.
