Hedlund's Highlights

November 2021

Big picture
Copeland and Montezuma have been working with our Southwest Plains Title III Consultant, Natalie Briscoe, to use the eILP program to log surveys, EL assessment data, goals and individual plans. This program will help us share information with parents, teachers and coordinate student data between districts. This is a big step in streamlining transitions for our schools!

Core Beliefs

Science of Reading

Amplify has created a really great "quick guide" on the science of reading. Click on the link below to check it out. Additionally, I've included a trailer to a movie I can't wait to see! The trailer touches on so many of the current issues teaching reading and education.

Learning Ally

Research shows that when students struggle to read, accessing grade level content is essential to continue to build vocabulary and background knowledge. A great way to do this is with audio books! Montezuma has purchased Learning Ally, so that students can access novels, textbooks and so much more! I've set up a few teachers to get started. Please let me know if you have a student who might benefit from this program.
