The Week of 10/10/2022
Happy long weekend, RHS Students!
I hope you find some time for the things that bring you joy and peace π. Today marks the mid-term point for Q1. As we approach the first major milestone of the year, please be sure to check Aspen/Google Classroom and inquire with your teachers if you have any questions or concerns about your progress thus far.
Reflecting on the year to this point, I continue to be inspired by the work of our students and staff. Just this past week, the RHS Chamber musicians wow'ed us with their performance at Weekly Assembly. A huge thank you to Clara, Jaelyn, Alyssa, Mari, Marianna, Lily, Sally, Gavin, Simon, Victor, Cole, & Benji for exemplifying this month's theme of courageous leadership; not to mention out-of-this world talent πΉπΈπ€. We are looking forward to a season of talent as we approach the busy time for plays, concerts, art shows, athletic events and so much more!
Peer Leaders and Student Council are joining forces to bring back a full lineup of experiences that will serve to build school culture and bring good ole fashion fun to the halls of RHS ππ. A sneak peak of events includes bringing back the Student vs. Staff competitions; starting at the end of the month with the annual Halloween Costume contest! π»ππ₯³ We are excited for the opportunity to enhance school culture with a little friendly competition over the coming year.
We look forward to welcoming you back from the long weekend on Wednesday 10/12. Golf β³ποΈββοΈ: On Thursday, the Golf team participated in the Cape Ann League open. Tyler Bouchie and Jameson Colbert participated, and played well. ππ
Field Hockey ππ
The field hockey team is half way through our season. The record is 2-8 with victories coming against Northeast. Leading the team in scoring is Sydney Bouchie with 5 goals including a hat trick vs Northeast; Ella Lorenz & Amelia Lucas with 2 goals and chipping in with a goal each are Julia Sekercan, Addie Gardner and Ceci Chadbourne. πͺ
The team has continued to work hard and show improvements. Highlight of this week was our 2-0 loss against Manchester-Essex, #3 ranked team in the MIAA Power Rankings. Lynn Morin was HUGE in goal stopping 33 shots! Natalie Lamond, Emily Hale, Sami Morrill, and Addie Gardner played stellar defense in M/E game! π₯³
Field Hockey will return on Friday against Pentucket at 3:45.
Girls Soccer β½ π
GSOC hosted the Hornets on Tuesday night, for another rainy game. They fought hard and played tough! On Thursday they traveled to Pentucket, also with a hard fight, the seniors were recognized, and it was a well fought game! π
They play again on Saturday at GHS (4:00pm).
Boys Soccer β½π
The boys visited the Hornets on a cold rainy night for their last regular season matchup of 2022.
Eddy Merz added to his team lead in goals with a breakaway in the 1st 10 minutes of the game to make it 1-0. Excellent defense by Nate Cook and Will Caron, they kept the M-E offense quiet throughout the 1st half. With the score tied at 1-1 in the 2nd, Owen Aiello found the back of the net on a breakaway to give the Vikings the lead. Atticus Anderson and Nick Nocella created several great offensive chances in the Midfield area. Despite a season high 14 saves by freshmen keeper Zakarya Bouafi, the Vikings lost 2-3. π«π
BSOC hosted Pentucket on Thursday night, and they won 3-0! Goals by Eddy Merz (2) and Atticus Anderson (1) β½π
They play again this Saturday at GHS (6:00pm)
