Forest Grove’s School Site Council Guides our Improvement
One of the important groups that provides feedback and input about ways to improve our school is the School Site Council.
The Forest Grove School Site Council is a combination of parents and school employees (teachers and staff) who develop goals for our school and track our progress in attaining those goals.
Our council meets monthly and all of our meetings are open to the public. December’s meeting will be held Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 3:30 p.m. in the school’s conference room.
Our agenda will be posted Friday in the front office window. Past agenda items have included a review of our School Safety Plan, reviewing our state testing results, and discussing how our school budget is being spent.
The council welcomes community participation and there are a couple of ways that you can help.
First, you can give feedback to any of our council members for improvements that you would like to see at our school. Current council members are: Buck Roggeman (Principal), Kilene Brosseau (Teacher), Barbara Hirst (Teacher), Maurisa Alt (Teacher), Claudia Guttierrez (Parent), Audrey Lorca (Parent), Edwin Morticorena (Parent), Jennifer McNary (Parent), and Carolyn Swanson (Parent).
The second way you can provide feedback is by taking our school goals survey. This survey seeks feedback on our four areas for improvement: English Language Arts, Math, Social Emotional Learning, and Parent Engagement.
If you have any questions about our School Site Council, feel free to contact me at broggeman@pgusd.org .
Thank you,
Buck Roggeman, Principal

They have been meeting weekly since September to build their robot and code for missions. These 19 5th graders have been working hard with volunteer coaches, Renee Krueger, Henry Nigos, Ari Hague and Nancy Da Silva.
Their season will end with a local competition at Chartwell School on Saturday, December 14th.
*A special thank you to one of our FG parents, John Fletcher of S&P Global for their grant to the Robotics team to get this year underway.

Are You Taking a Trip?
Forest Grove's Winter Break will be from
12:10 pm on Friday, December 20- Monday, January 6th.
If you are planning a trip that will take your child out of school, please remember that you can apply for up to 10 Justifiable Absence days with the principal. Click here to access the form and have it turned in at least 2 weeks prior to the date(s) of absence. If approved, your child's absences will not count as "unexcused" absences and will then not count towards truancy.

How to Stay Connected to the PTA
Have you turned in your PTA Membership form yet? If not, it's not too late!
Why join PTA? The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more PTA advantages:
Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.
Speak Up. PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.
Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes.
Be a Role Model. By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
Visit forestgrovepta.com to download your membership form now!
Want to be a Chaperone or a Volunteer?
We love to have parents help out at school and join us on our field trips. Before you go, make sure you have been fingerprinted through the District office. It is district policy that all parent volunteers be fingerprinted and cleared before working in the room or chaperoning a trip. Pick up a packet in the office or click here.
Contact Angela Lippert or Kimberly Ortiz at the District Office for more information.
