Humans Need Not Apply

Liam Geyer

Julie G.

My hero was my mom, Julie. At first, it may seem like interviewing my mom was a last minute answer to the interview project but I can assure you that I chose her because she it truly someone to look up to. If one were to see her success right now, they probably wouldn't be able to tell that she had a rough beginning. After her mom died when she was a teenager, her family wasn't able to sufficiently pay for her collage education. But even with this, she still persevered and finished her collage education while balancing work to pay for it. This, and for many other reasons, is why Julie G. is my hero.

What is A Hero?

The Webster Dictionary defines a hero as someone who is greatly admired. When one thinks of a hero, they think of people like "Superman" and "Spider-Man". The problem is when we think about the heroes that we could have, we fail to see the ones that actually make a difference. A hero is someone who creates the example of what humanity can achieve if we put in effort and persevere through hardships.

A hero is someone who gives what little he has to help someone else. Imagine a man who I payed minimum wage and receives just enough to pay for his rent and food. Consider that this man is walking home when he sees a man on the side of the road with no roof over his head. So the man gives the $2 that he has for food and goes to sleep hungry, but knowing that someone else who usually does isn't. This man who has very little. Yet, he still gives this man with nothing to offer all that he can. This shows this man's ability to turn up the better side of humanity.

A hero is someone who works behind the scenes, working for the greater good, with no acknowledgement of his action. Imagine a person who volunteers all of his free time moving recovery equipment to be sent to people in need. Consider that he is not recognized one bit for his work but rather, some celebrity who says that they support the cause. Even though this man never gets recognized for his work, he still does it. He puts in effort and perseveres with nothing in return other than the knowledge that somewhere, there are people who are getting the supplies that they need to survive.

As one can see, no matter if it's a man who gives what little he has to offer or if it's a man who saves thousands with no acknowledgement in return, these people persevere though hardships and put forth effort which is what a hero really is. A hero is someone who does all that they can for the greater good, Even if it means suffering yourself.

Why Elon Musk is my Untouchable hero

When we started this project, most kids just chose people who were popular or cool because in reality, very few people actually put effort in past what will get them a good grade. But unlike many other kids I've spoken too, I truley belive that Elon Musk is the untouchable hero! I don't want to spoil the essay, but I hope that after reading it, you will agree.

Elon Musk: The Modern Day Thomas Edison

Webster Dictionary defines a hero as "someone who is greatly admired". When we think of a hero, we think of people such as "Superman" or "Spider-Man". The problem with these "heroes" is that they do not even exist! We spend so much time contemplating the heroes that we could have, we completely miss the ones that actually make a difference. A hero is someone who makes great leaps in the development of our species and innovates beyond what was previously thought to be impossible. The person who I am speaking of is none other than Elon Musk. Elon Musk has a long list of accomplishments such as his innovations in the financial world with PayPal, the world most wide-scale online money management service, to his innovations in the automotive industry with Tesla, the line of cars that are not only superior to any other car on the market, but is also completely electric and does not use a single ounce of fossil fuels. Not only does Elon Musk meet the requirements to be considered a true hero, but exceeds them in every aspect.

Elon Musk is a true hero because of his accomplishments in making Eco-friendly transport a reasonable option. His innovations in the automotive industry through the company "Tesla" has become known far and wide. His cars are not only faster, stronger and more reliable than any other car on the market, but they are completely electric making them extremely environmentally friendly, which is very important with the threat of global warming on the rise. Another way that he is a true hero is his innovations in the financial industry with the website PayPal. Before PayPal, making online transactions was very risky because you were giving the information of the bank account with all of your life savings. PayPal acts as a third party that allows the everyday person to rest assured that even if they accidentally make a transaction with the wrong person, they won't have access to much. This makes Elon Musk a hero because he made it safe to make online transactions which revolutionized pretty much every aspect of everyday life.

In many ways, Elon Musk is like my personal hero, Julie Geyer. One way is that they both had a tough beginning. They both didn't have many opportunities as a child, weather it's living in Detroit or Living in Africa. Even with these hurdles, they both went on to become successful in their own ways. When it comes to the aspects of being a hero, they both show making a difference. Though there are obvious differences in what changes they have made, they both make changes none-the-less. My personal hero does things everyday to provide for her family and that makes a difference within the community.

If I could talk to Elon Musk right now, I would ask him what impact he thinks he has created on humanity. While I am unable to ask that question directly, he was asked a similar answer in an interview with the Washington Post. He said, "When I was in college, I wanted to be involved in things that would change the world. Now I am.". Though when it comes to inspiration from the untouchable hero, Elon Musk, the best would be his response to the Falcon-9 crash into the sea barge, "If something is important enough, even if the odds are against you, you should still do it.". Elon Musk is an absolute genius but with the added trait of persistence which is what makes him an untouchable hero.

Humans Need Not Apply: My Communist Theories

This essay is one of the things I'm most proud of when it comes to all of the school work that I've done this year. The reason, however, is not typical of what most kids in this school would say about their favorite work. Unlike many of the kids in my class, it is not very likely that I will get above a 90%. The reason I am proud of this is because of the effort I put into conceptualizing this idea. I spent three days and a total of 20 hours writing and rewriting this essay not to make sure that it matched the requirements, but rather to make sure that this is what I want. What did I do exactly? I not only solved the problem to poverty, but I solved the problems of communism and economic down fall. Curious to what I mean? Rather than explain here, I present to you "Humans Need Not Apply".
