Lots going on, lots coming up.

Happy January!

Here we are, the second week of a new semester and we are moving along at full speed. Teachers are also preparing for the Parent/Teacher conferences which are coming up February 6-7. You should have received an appointment letter by now, if you haven't please contact your child's teacher.

This coming week will have an unusual schedule. There will be NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY and EARLY RELEASE (2:05pm) on Wednesday. During the early release teachers will be unpacking science standards again. We will be looking at the Bernuli Principle and planning grade level lessons that include the scientific method. If you would like to follow along with our teachers on learning the new Science Standards you can go to: http://www.nextgenscience.org/search-standards-dci to pick the grade level and learning objectives in which you are interested. They are organized by grade level and general science area. For example I modeled a fifth grade (grade level) motion and force lesson this week in Mr. Mills' classroom. In addition to the science objective we all learned more about integrating technology in the classroom. A website that does a good job of explaining the Scientific Method at the elementary level is: http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_scientific_method.shtml.

Our cross-country ski club will be starting next week. If your 4-6 grade student is interested in this very popular program, Mr. Michael has permission slips available.

I would like to congratulate all the participants in this year's regional Hoop Shoot. Two of our students, Colvin Moore and Kilee Horning placed first in their age groups and will be representing our school at the state competition.

Please check out our other calendared events.

Sincerely,

Doug Hayman
