Fire Alarm System

Due to a lightning strike last night, our fire panel was affected. The fire alarm company has been out to the school to evaluate the situation, and the necessary parts have been ordered to restore it. Our maintenance team and the fire alarm company are actively working to resolve this. After discussing the situation with the Highland Heights Fire Department, they have instructed us to use our PA system and walkie talkie system to notify those within the building should a fire occur. Highland Heights Fire Department has also asked us to post signs on our doors stating that the school is on a fire watch during school hours until the fire panel is restored.

Gradelink Notification System Test

This past Friday, we used all facets of our Gradelink notification system--email, text, and phone call--to notify you that school was cancelled due to a power outage. Friday served as our test of the system. If you did not receive any one of these communications, please email the school office at office@saintpaschal.com or call 440-442-6766 to update your contact information. Thank you!

Magazine Sale

This marks the last week of our magazine sale, and orders are due Thursday, September 19. Once again, the magic number is ONE. If every child could sell one magazine, we would have a great year. Whatever you are able to do to support this fundraiser is always appreciated. Thank you.

Walk-a-Thon Recess Laps Start Monday

Each year, before the Walk-a-Thon, students enjoying walking and running laps over a 2-week period. As noted in the Walk-a-Thon packet, they can earn a medal to wear at the Walk-a-Thon by walking 20 or more laps over the next 2 weeks at recess. They get a special card to record their laps and we NEED LOTS OF PARENTS TO HELP mark their cards as they round the playground. It's fun to see your kids (and for them to see you!) during recess and help make these two weeks extra fun! Thanks for helping!

PE News

I would like to acknowledge and thank the parent volunteers who took time on Meet Your Teacher night to help with the PE Uniform Sale:

Mrs. Jaime Mance, Mrs. Tricia Slemc, Mrs. Colleen Ockenden, Mrs. Kathy Andru, Mrs. Wendy Guy, Mrs. Janelle Washington, and Mrs. Colleen Grossner

The sale went very well, thanks to you!

PLEASE NOTE: Due to our uniform supplier no longer carrying green tearaway pants, the tearaway pants will now be replaced by hunter green track pants. Any orders made for tearaway pants will transfer to orders for track pants. These orders will be filled as soon as possible, and the price will remain the same for families who have already placed their order.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Physical Education

Interested in being a library volunteer?

Thank you to the parents who have started helping out in the library! We are still looking for some additional help. Our library volunteers read to students, help students select books, sort and shelve books, etc. It's a wonderful way to get involved. Library volunteers must be Virtus trained and have a current BCII check. If interested, please email Ms. Raguz at draguz@saintpaschal.com . Volunteers are needed on the following days and times:

  • Mondays-10:20-11:20 a.m. (LIbrary/STEM block for 1B-Miss Martinson's class)
  • Tuesdays-9:30-11:00 a.m. (Library for Jr. K and Library/STEM block for 2B-Mrs. Braun's class)
  • Wednesdays (2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th weeks)-8:45-11:20 a.m.-Preschool and Library/STEM block for KB-Mrs. Alan's class)
  • Thursdays-9:30-11:40 a.m.(Library/STEM block for 3A-Mrs. Uzzo's class and KA-Mrs. Mickol's class)
  • Thursdays-1:20-1:50 p.m. (Library for 5B-Mrs. Popelka's class)

Playground/Lunchroom Volunteer Sign Ups

The links to sign up for playground/lunchroom supervision for parents/guardians of students in Grades 7-8 are now live!

We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:00-1:00. We are so grateful for the help!

This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Lunch/Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:00 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting students to the cafeteria from recess, and supervising in the cafeteria. Volunteers will be with one teacher and two "core" volunteers each day to help direct. Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.

Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the grade level link to pick a time convenient for you: Grade 8 or Grade 7

Blue Mass-Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.

On Wednesday, October 2 at the 9:00 a.m. Mass, we will celebrate the Feast of the Guardian Angels and honor society's "guardian angels.'" The all school Mass will be dedicated to the men and women who work to protect us--our police officers, our firefighters, and our first responders. We would like to invite all parents and parishioners who work in those fields to attend the Blue Mass, celebrate the Liturgy with us, and receive a special blessing. We ask that you complete the RSVP form below so that we have an idea of the number attending. The entire Saint Paschal Baylon School family would love to see you there. We are truly thankful for the support of the Highland Heights police and fire departments, and for all men and women who serve their communities. God bless you all!

Heinen's Teaming Up for Education

Last year, Saint Paschal Baylon PTO earned $2,304 from Heinen’s Teaming Up for Education Program. Heinen’s donates 1% of your purchases from September to April back to SPB; all you have to do is sign up and use your Tasteful Rewards card each time you shop. Remember, each year every family needs to re-sign up and select St. Paschal Baylon. You can select SPB a few ways: by logging into your online Tasteful Rewards account, stopping by the Customer Service Counter at Heinen’s, or calling Customer Relations at 1-855-475-2300 ext 2337. Please sign up and encourage your family and friends to do the same so that PTO can continue to provide funding for technology and other resources for our students. This is an easy way to earn money for our school while you do your regular grocery shopping. Thank you!
