Fire Alarm System
Due to a lightning strike last night, our fire panel was affected. The fire alarm company has been out to the school to evaluate the situation, and the necessary parts have been ordered to restore it. Our maintenance team and the fire alarm company are actively working to resolve this. After discussing the situation with the Highland Heights Fire Department, they have instructed us to use our PA system and walkie talkie system to notify those within the building should a fire occur. Highland Heights Fire Department has also asked us to post signs on our doors stating that the school is on a fire watch during school hours until the fire panel is restored.

Magazine Sale
This marks the last week of our magazine sale, and orders are due Thursday, September 19. Once again, the magic number is ONE. If every child could sell one magazine, we would have a great year. Whatever you are able to do to support this fundraiser is always appreciated. Thank you.
Walk-a-Thon Recess Laps Start Monday
Each year, before the Walk-a-Thon, students enjoying walking and running laps over a 2-week period. As noted in the Walk-a-Thon packet, they can earn a medal to wear at the Walk-a-Thon by walking 20 or more laps over the next 2 weeks at recess. They get a special card to record their laps and we NEED LOTS OF PARENTS TO HELP mark their cards as they round the playground. It's fun to see your kids (and for them to see you!) during recess and help make these two weeks extra fun! Thanks for helping!

PE News
I would like to acknowledge and thank the parent volunteers who took time on Meet Your Teacher night to help with the PE Uniform Sale:
Mrs. Jaime Mance, Mrs. Tricia Slemc, Mrs. Colleen Ockenden, Mrs. Kathy Andru, Mrs. Wendy Guy, Mrs. Janelle Washington, and Mrs. Colleen Grossner
The sale went very well, thanks to you!
PLEASE NOTE: Due to our uniform supplier no longer carrying green tearaway pants, the tearaway pants will now be replaced by hunter green track pants. Any orders made for tearaway pants will transfer to orders for track pants. These orders will be filled as soon as possible, and the price will remain the same for families who have already placed their order.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Playground/Lunchroom Volunteer Sign Ups
The links to sign up for playground/lunchroom supervision for parents/guardians of students in Grades 7-8 are now live!
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:00-1:00. We are so grateful for the help!
This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Lunch/Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:00 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting students to the cafeteria from recess, and supervising in the cafeteria. Volunteers will be with one teacher and two "core" volunteers each day to help direct. Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.
Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the grade level link to pick a time convenient for you: Grade 8 or Grade 7
