3rd Grade - Myths
For their genre grid, students read two myths and chose a product in order to show their figurative understanding of the texts. Very creative! Hover over the photo to see the description of the assignment.
Pack Your Trunk
Students place ten items that represent their character into their "trunk". Then they gave a presentation about the items' significance is to their character.
Similarity and Difference Chart
Similarities are shown on the inside while differences are shown on the outside.
Myth Collage
Students create a collage about a scene from their myth. They then wrote a descriptive paragraph explaining their depiction.
4th Math
We're finishing up the geometry unit and students are creating math art using geometry vocabulary.
4th Grade - Inside Out and Back Again
Students read a free verse poetry memoir where it's main character, Ha, describes the events that led her family to flee war-torn Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict (later renamed Vietnam War). The book was filled with poem-like diary entries with abundant use of figurative language. Check out just a sampling of some amazing metaphor/simile poems where students explored imagery of their favorite holiday.
5th Grade - Red Scarf Girl
Students create physical interpretive pieces for Red Scarf Girl, a memoir about the Chinese Cultural Revolution.
