The Digestive System

The nutrients in the food you eat is needed by the cells in your body. The digestive system is the body system that breaks down food and absorbs nutrients. In mechanical digestion, large chunks of food are broken down into small pieces. This is a physical process. In chemical digestion, large food molecules are broken down into small nutrient molecules. Absorption is what allows the substances you eat to be taken up by your blood. Some of the digestive organs are the stomach, mouth, esophagus, large intestine, and the small intestine. The muscles in these organs help them to work like pushing the food down through the esophagus and chewing the food.

Food Allergies

If you are allergic to some foods then you might want to read the back of labels before you eat certain foods.
