The Groves Grapevine
Building the future, one student at a time! 12/06/2019
Follow the Footprints!
Have you seen the new Gator tracks in front of our school? We want everyone who visits our campus to feel welcome and know how to check-in. We have added “footprints” that lead visitors to the camera/buzzer at the correct entry door. We will also be posting new welcome signage with directions on how to use the camera/buzzer.
Relationships Day, December 11th
It is a Groves Essential of Behavior that our Gators know every, single day that they are loved, appreciated, safe, and cared for. Put on that BLUE!
From the Library...
We have another opportunity for our students to earn rewards as they continue to read.
Six Flags sponsors a program called “READ TO SUCCEED” and your child can participate.
Forms will be going home this week giving you all of the details. A new feature this year
is the ability to record your reading online. Each class will have an access code and you can
register your child and record their reading electronically. Reading logs on paper will still
be accepted by the deadline.
Each student must read at least 360 minutes by APRIL 10, 2020 to qualify for 1 free ticket to Six Flags during the summer. It is a savings for us as parents, but even more of a reward as our students continue to develop a love for reading. The free ticket will be distributed in May to each student who qualifies.
** Please note that reading times may be counted in both the Six Flags program as well as the Pizza Hut “Book-It” program simultaneously. 20 minutes of reading would entitle a
student to color in the day for the Book-It program and also record 20 minutes of reading
for the Six Flags program.
If you have questions or problems, please contact me at 972-429-3471 or Charleen.firstname.lastname@example.org .
Book it Program update
For the month of October our students read for a combined total of 46,980 minutes. Way to Read! We had 81 students turn in completed forms and each earned a coupon for a free personal pizza.
For the month of November our students read for a combined total of 39,400 minutes.
We had 72 students turn in forms so far and they are still trickling in. If you haven’t returned yours yet, please send it in.
Our December reading logs went home this week, please continue to encourage reading every day. I would love to see our number of participating students double.
All of our students have a world of opportunity ahead of them but it starts with literacy.
We want each student to have the skills needed to succeed in whatever they can dream.
Reading is a gateway to possibility.
