American International School of Monrovoia, 2022

Director's Message

Dear AISM Community

We are more than half way through Qtr. 1 and we are pleased to report on the progress we are experiencing in classes and through out the school. The students are thriving and being challenged academically. There is a sharper focus towards rigor and achievement and we are seeing the results of student's efforts. The 1st quarter will end on October 19th, progress reports will be available for viewing on Jupiter on or before October 24th, log in to the portal to view the progress report. We will hold Parent Teacher Conferences the 1st week of November 1-4. You are encouraged to schedule a meeting during that week, to discuss your child's progress and MAP results. There is much happening on campus during the month of October, please refer to the Important Dates and Reminders at the bottom of the newsletter.

Happy October!

MAP Testing

MAP Growth is the most trusted and innovative assessment for measuring achievement and growth in K–12 math, reading, and language usage. It provides teachers with accurate, actionable evidence to help inform instructional strategies regardless of how far students are above or below grade level. We will be reviewing and strategizing about student's academic progress and look forward to sharing this data with you at Parent/Teacher conferences.

Professional Development

The AISM Faculty and Administrators will attend an all day conference on Friday, September 30th. - NO Classes. Ms. Gail Seay is an expert Faculty member of AERO - American Educators Reaching Out- which is the Curriculum Framework and Standards that the US State Department Schools sponsors. It is used widely in American International Schools and schools around the world. Ms. Seay is also a Board Governance Trainer and will be here for the AISM Board retreat October 1-2.

Mask Update

We will no longer require mask in class. We did our due diligence at the beginning of the year and will do so after long breaks, where many of us travel, such as Winter Break. We will still wash hands upon arrival. However, it is up to each individual if they prefer to wear mask in class. Again, if your child is unwell and is experiencing flu like symptoms, please keep them home.

Middle States Association - MSA The Middle States Association is a worldwide leader in accreditation and school improvement. PSAT OCT 6th & 12

Students in grades 8 and 9 will take the PSAT 8/9 on Thursday, October 6th.

The PSAT 8/9 is a test that helps determine what students need to work on most so that they are ready for college when they graduate from high school. 11th Grade will take the PSAT on Oct.2th

It’s part of the College Board family of assessments that includes the SAT college-admission assessment and the PSAT/NMSQT, a preview of the SAT. The PSAT 8/9 tests the same skills and knowledge as the SAT and PSAT/NMSQT, but in a way that makes sense for 8th and 9th graders. The test focuses on skills and knowledge in the areas of Reading, Writing and Language, and Mathematics— what students have been learning in school and what they’ll need to succeed in college.
