We know in these odd times it is often difficult to find something to get excited about. Well, that is about to change! I can tell you I am excited to get to see our returning Jag Band students; I’m excited to get to meet the newest members of our Jag Band family; I’m excited to undertake this new approach to learning and teaching; and, I am excited about JOHNSON: This is Us!

Summer band is going to look different! We are going to social distance. We are going to wear masks. And, we are going to follow new guidelines concerning student health and safety. However, one thing will remain the same, and that is our plan to make this the Jag Band’s best year yet! We are confident that with our staff, students, and parents, great things are on the way!

If you have looked at the Jag Band Calendar online you will have noticed that everything has been removed! The three Hays CISD High School Head Band Directors and our administration met last week to make the larger overlapping decisions for the district. Now, the Jag Band Directors will meet to solidify the items that will impact us directly! We are in the process of getting new dates and schedules for football games, events and rehearsals, and we will get them posted immediately. There are also going to be many adjustments made to this years' policies, procedures, scheduled performances, uniforms, supplies, travel, master classes, and several others. The Jag Band Directors will meet this week to finalize many of these items and send a detailed letter in order for everyone to have a clear understanding as we enter marching season! We will also get updates out on social media and on the calendar as soon as we have those locked in!

As I said at the beginning of this letter, there are going to be many adjustments made along the way; however, one thing is still the same! We are going to create something that our students, parents and community absolutely enjoy; is of the highest quality; and, is something that will generate great pride and wonderful memories! JOHNSON: This is Us!
