Thank you for all of your hard work and the extra time you dedicated to parent-conferences. Relationships are the basis for all of the work that we do and building connections with parents is crucial.

Events this Week
Strong4Life Pep Rallies
On October 26 we will participate in two Strong4Life pep rallies sponsored by CHOA.
- K, 1, 3 in Gym 1 from 12:30-1:30 pm
- 2, 4, 5 in Gym 1 from 1:45-2:45 pm (2nd grade car riders will bring their book bags)
- We will use the early release schedule for specials and the normal lunch schedule. Homeroom, specials and support teachers please attend the pep rallies.
Book Fair
- Day 1 (Oct. 25) will be Teacher Preview. Watch for an invitation in your mailbox! We have treats and you can come pick out books for your Wish List for students/families to buy for you. This is for ALL teachers!!
- Day 2 and 3 (Oct. 26-27) will be class previews. You will sign up for a time slot for your class to come check out our books and make their wishlist. Please note the instructions in the Sign Up Genius for which grade levels come at which times. We will have volunteers there to help the K and 1st graders make their wishlists.
- Days 2-6 (Oct. 26-Nov. 2) we will be open for shopping! Students in Building 1 may come and shop whenever you allow. Beginning on Day 3 (Oct. 30) we will come to Building 2 and collect our friends one grade at a time to bring them up, shop, and then bring them back. We will be mindful of Specials, Lunch, and Recess.
- Day 3 (Oct. 30) we will be open during the Text and Treat!!
- Day 7 (Nov. 3) we will close at noon! We will not come and collect friends from Building 2 on this day.

SLDS
- The state SLDS Training Team would like to share the great SLDS work going on across the state - if you’d like an example, click on the Help & Training link on your SLDS dashboard.
- Once the Help & Training webpage opens, look at the bottom right hand side of the webpage. You will see the word Testimonials, and beneath that, SLDS Videos. Click on the SLDS Videos link and look for Burke County student’s life changed forever and watch and listen.
- Please share your examples of positive impact SLDS has had on your students' achievement by sending an email to SLDS@doe.k12.ga.us.

This draft was created with feedback from Local School Councils. As with prior student calendars, the 2018-19 draft includes:
- Ending the first semester prior to the Holiday Break
- One-week Fall Break
- One-week break for Thanksgiving Holiday
- Two-week Holiday Break
- One-week Spring Break
- Two K-12 Early Release Days (one in each semester), with two additional days for K-8 parent conferences
- Ending the school year prior to Memorial Day
FTE
- FTE counts are almost over!
- The sign-off deadline is Tuesday, October 24.
- Please remember to keep all IEP’s locked until we send the all clear email.

Wordy Bird Reading Contest
- We are getting ready to kick-off our Sawnee Chiefs- Wordy Bird Reading Contest sponsored by Zaxby’s!
- We will have information coming soon—but PLEASE NOTE—Your class needs to be set up in MyOn.
- If you haven’t registered and started your class on this site, please see Shannon, Betsy or one of your colleagues that are already set up and using this GREAT resource for help!
- The contest will start in approximately one week---with GREAT PRIZES!! We will be announcing the winners before Thanksgiving Break!
Teacher Hours
- The school day is from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm. Classroom teachers should be in their classrooms by 7:30 each morning.
- All staff should sign in when arriving to school. Staff at the 3 – 5 building should sign-in in the front atrium. Staff in the K – 2 building should sign-in at the reception desk.
- Everyone must sign-out when leaving.
Materials Needed
CHOA Blankets
- Becky has the fleece for the CHOA blankets (for our West Community Service Project), but now she need scissors, REALLY sharp scissors!
- If you have a pair of REALLY sharp scissors, please let Becky know and plan to bring them to the 11/8 Faculty Meeting.
