If you have something that needs to be brought to the attention of the Board, or you would like to discuss the issue in person, please contact a Board Member.

Tidbits from the President
I have just returned from the Houston Quilt Show.
Lots of classes, lots of quilts, lots of quilters, lots of fun. I hope to have at least one example for show and tell.
November and December always seem to fly by in a blur of activity. I know I have to plan Thanksgiving with my parents and Christmas with ALL my kids in Austin. I also have a new grandchild due on December 26. We all hope he waits. Somewhere in that prep schedule I need to quilt. I always have more projects than
time.
And here is a tidbit of wisdom from my Mom…

Budget news
The 2023-2024 budget is completed. You should have seen it in a separate SMORE with some explanation of items. Please review before the meeting. We will vote on it then.

FRAYED KNOTS
TIGHT KNOTS BEE
Start a Bee
One of the most fun parts of belonging to a Guild is getting to know other quilters. But, there aren’t many opportunities to actually get to SEW and learn from one another, except in a bee. Most of the guild bees have been around for many years and don’t have openings for many newcomers. If you want to get know more of your fellow members, start a new bee!
General Guidelines
- 7-9 members. Start with the people sitting near you at Guild or advertise in the bee section of the newsletter, or on the FB page.
- A place to meet: dining room table, living room, playroom, apartment clubhouse, nearby church… You may want to rotate hosting among those with enough space.
- Monthly meeting time for 1.5-4 hours. Some groups may also have periodic all-day project days or retreats.
- Some groups organize around a common interest: appliqué, modern, art, charity projects, while some are based on proximity.
- Start simply and see how the group’s dynamics play out through time. There are lots of activity ideas online.

2024 Guild Raffle Quilt
For the 2024 Guild Raffle Quilt we would like to create a quilt of Christmas Presents. We would love for each guild member to contribute blocks. We need Christmas presents in varying sizes of 3.5", 6.5" and 12.5". Everyone that is willing to make a block can create a Christmas present using any color of CHRISTMAS fabric, we only ask that the background fabric to your block be white. You can create a Christmas present with a ribbon and a bow, without a bow, the creativity is up to you! We just ask that your completed block be 3.5", 6.5" or 12.5". It is our hope to have a quilt completed by Jan, therefore we need completed blocks by Dec guild meeting, Dec 19, 2023.
It is our recommendation that we schedule a day for anyone who would like to participate to gather and assemble the quilt. If you would like for us to host, we can provide the space. We cannot host on a Friday.
We plan to make a couple of sample blocks to bring to the meeting as well.

BEV RAMSEY FUND
Bev Ramsey was a charter member of the guild, a past president, a teacher and a friend. We lost her way too early. The Bev Ramsey fund was set up to help those in need enjoy the things she loved very much, retreats and workshops.
Lovies
If you would like to make one (or 100) take two pieces of 14" square fabric - one cotton, and one flannel. Sew them right sides together, leaving a gap to turn. Turn, then topstitch around the entire piece.
Beverly Peterson collects them at Guild meetings to give to Cook Children's. Cook's is always very grateful for the gifts.
QUILTS OF VALOR
See program notes for information about November presentation.
Be sure to bring any blocks you’ve completed to the next meeting. I’ll have more kits for anyone wanting to take some home.
Just a reminder: Recommended size for QOV’s 60”x80” (minimum:55”x65”; maximum: 72”x90”)
Thanks again for all of your hard work!!
