168th Lighthouse School in the Nation, Building Leaders

Tuscany Heights Elementary

Tuscany Heights is the 168th Lighthouse School in the Nation as recognized by Stephen Covey. Through student leadership, we grow leaders that encompass a growth mindset and establish lifelong skills that will support our students as they grow into adults. Our mission is a living action statement that we use to guide Team Tuscany, as we do great things for all.

"We, THE Tigers, will be inspired to LEAD, HONOR, and EXCEL today!"

Bailey's Bulletin

We are thrilled to share the recent approval for Tuscany Heights Elementary to host PreK for the 2019-2020 school year. That's right! We just received noticed this week that our campus will house our very own PreK (3-4year olds) Class. Please see more information below on the criteria for eligibility. Since this is NEW NEWS, help us pass the word around. Bring on the little ones!

We ended on a fantastic note with PE Dance and Western Day! WOOHOO! Thank you for coming out to support our students as they "Busted" some moves in the gym. We had a blast!

Next week, is a fun week too. We have another Western Day in honor of our Prek Storytime with Dr. Gottardy, Superintendent/Guest Reader. Keep those boots dusted off for Tuesday!

If you know of a little one, share the information below. We are going to have a "Boot Scootin'" good time with all that come out. Not only are we hanging with the 3-5 year olds on Tuesday, but we have an invite for all Kindergarten aged students (5 years old before Sept. 1st) for Wednesday night, Feb. 20th. We are hosting Kinder Roundup! This event allows parents to receive information about the school, teachers and staff, schedules, opportunities, and get a sneak peek into the classroom. We hope you will join us!

Flyers are posted below and on social media!

Proud Principal,

Tara Bailey

Kids Heart Challenge

The Kids Heart Challenge, which was formerly known as the Jump Rope for Heart/Hoops for Heart, fundraiser will be kicking off on Friday, February 22nd. The Kids Heart Challenge is a fun and exciting event where your student learns about their heart while helping others and raising money for the American Heart Association. The Kids Heart Challenge prepares your child for success through physical and emotional well-being. Tuscany has a goal this year to raise $6,500! Students will earn prizes for each donation milestone met. The more money that is raised to help the American Heart Association, the more money Tuscany’s P.E. program will receive back in gift certificates to purchase new equipment and resources to benefit all students in P.E. To prepare for the kick-off, Coach Kaufman and Coach Fonger will be selling jump ropes personalized and cut to fit each individual students size. Sales will be in the morning between 7:15 and 7:40 in the front office for $5.00 each. They will be selling them for the remainder of the month and students will be able to use them during P.E. and recess! The coaches are looking forward to spending time with the students focusing on promoting health and wellness while helping to save the lives of others through fundraising and jump roping.

The kids can meet some of our special area teachers, tour the kinder rooms, meet our fabulous team of Kinder teachers and stop by the library for story time with Mrs. Johnson on the way out. We can’t wait to meet some of our future Tiger Families!

Lost and Found!

Please be sure to label your child's belongings...lunch boxes, water bottles, sweaters, jackets, backpacks, etc., this makes it easy for us to return lost items to students so that they don’t end up in our overflowing lost and found.

NEISD Council PTA Used Book Sale

Are you in the process of cleaning and decluttering? Be sure to hold on to any books, DVD’s and CD’s you may have and donate them in March to our annual NEISD Council PTA Used Book Sale! We will be collecting books and appropriate items all through the month of March.

Calling all Student Volunteers!

Does your student volunteer at Tuscany Heights through patrols, broadcasting, library lifesavers or any other leadership position? Does your student do community service through scouts or your church? Does your student volunteer at any organizations such as a food bank or animal shelter? If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, we want to know so we can acknowledge your child! If you already have an account at the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) website then don't forget to log your child's hours. If you are new to logging hours, please create a PVSA account for your Tiger so you can start logging. Full instructions can be found on the Tuscany Heights PTA website:

http://www.tuscanyheightspta.org/presidential-volunteer-service-award.html - Please contact Kelly Cardenas at communityservice@tuscanyheightspta.org with any questions.
