Celebrating Our Uniqueness
From March 21st- April 2nd we will be celebrating our neurodiversity by reading books about kindness, acceptance, and friendship.
March 21st marks World Down Syndrome Day. It is celebrated on the 21st day of the 3rd month to symbolize the triplication of the 21st chromosome. Chromosomes resemble the appearance of a sock, so the Lots of Socks campaign was created to raise awareness by wearing colorful or mismatched socks on that day. We invite everyone to wear colorful or mismatched socks on March 21st to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.
April 2nd marks World Autism Awareness Day, which was created by the United Nations, to celebrate and support those affected by Autism. People all around the world wear blue, a color associated with calmness and acceptance, on this day to raise awareness about Autism. We invite everybody to wear blue on March 31st in honor of World Autism Awareness Day.
