Hawthorn Media Center Happenings
Let's Learn Together!
Media News from Mrs. Reynolds
3rd and 4th grade are beginning a unit on primary and secondary resources. Ask your child if they know the difference! This will show up on their 3rd quarter grade card. 5th grade is beginning an author study, focusing primary on theme. This is an area that the 5th grade teachers have identified as a weakness, so I'm hoping to help support them and strengthen the kids' understanding.
Media News from Mrs. James
We’re off to a great start in second semester! Kindergarten has earned the privilege of checking out books from the shelves, and they couldn’t be more excited about it! We spent time during our first library class going over how to use a shelf marker and the importance of using this tool to keep our library organized and neat. We’ll continue to talk about library manners over the next several weeks so that we can be good Husky library citizens. First and Second grade students are continuing to read and discuss the Show-Me Reader award nominee books. Once we have read all of the nominees, each student will get to vote at the beginning of March for their favorite.
Mrs. Boshard on Maternity Leave
Our media center has a new addition! Mrs. Boshard had her baby, Josephine, on January 3rd. The family is doing great and she will be on maternity leave until the beginning part of March. In the meantime, Kerri James will be filling in as her long-term sub. You may remember Mrs. James. She filled in for Mrs. Reynolds during her maternity leave at the beginning of last year. We are thrilled to have her back for a bit and so happy that Mrs. Boshard is having this special time with her baby.
