December 9, 2016
Our school family works diligently in bringing success to all students. We recognize that "success" looks different for each child. We respect and value each unique child. Our school report card truly shows the hard work of all!
Please take a moment to review the school's data and celebrate the success of our children. It can be viewed at this link: http://ed.sc.gov/data/report-cards/state-report-cards/2016/view/?d=3201&s=055&t=E&y=2016
Do note that you can go into the State Department's website and view any school's report card for this information.
I am very proud of the success of our students! Congratulations to parents, students, teachers and staff!!!
This week will be our school-wide service project in collecting items such as non-perishable foods, toiletries, etc. The list of needs is in our newsletter. These items are truly in need for members of our local community. Thank you so much for your support in this project.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hour of Code
MES Students Participate in Hour of Code
Hour of Code is a global movement by Computer Science Education Week (December 4th-11th) and Code.org/learn that reaches tens of millions of students in 180+ countries through a one-hour introduction to computer science and computer programming. In grades K-2, students learned how to program using the app Code-a-pillar or BeeBot.
In grades 3-5 students all began with Disney’s Moana: Wayfinding with Code.
Students watched a short video by coders and then began moving Moana using code through a series of challenges. In time students were able to select other coding activities such as Minecraft and Starwars. Some students have gone home since this introduction and earned a certificate from Code.org by completing an entire activity.
We learned during career week that we have students already interested in coding. We hope our students who are interested in this topic will continue to explore it.
