Clothesline Project
Facilitated by Victim Services
Stop by Ferris Lounge Today!
The intention of the display is to honor survivors and act as a memorial for victims. It is also intended to aid in the healing process for those who were directly affected and those who have lost someone special to violence. The clothesline project is used to educate society and promote awareness, as well as to document violent crimes against others.
About the Shirts
The shirts are color coded to show the form of abuse and whether the victim survived the abuse they experienced.
- White represents those who died because of violence
- Yellow or beige represents those who have been battered or assaulted
- Red, pink, and orange are for survivors of rape and sexual assault;
- Blue and green represent survivors of incest and sexual abuse;
- Purple or lavender represents those attacked because of their sexual orientation;
- Black is for those attacked for political reasons.
