"Achieving Our Dreams through Education"
We have a busy week this week. Don't forget report cards are due this Wednesday and awards are due Thursday. Our awards ceremony is on Friday.
I have left many of the articles in from last week, so you can take the time to take a look at a couple, and added a few that are relevant.
Please take the below survey. We need it finished.
Great 8 Advice: If you have trouble with a student, the first thing needed to examine is the 4 : 1 ratio of positive and negative interactions.

Note From Miss Nellis
Hello,
I want to thank everyone who came to the CPI training. Thank you for participating and spending that time learning about the Verbal Escalation Continuum! If you have any questions, feel free to ask Jonna or myself.
Our kiddos are hard sometimes but I think we are up to the challenge. That being said, here is a list of all the great things I heard we are already doing as a staff:
- getting down to students' level when talking to them
- building/ pointing out connections and relationships
- using calm voices, even when students argue
- giving choices/deals
- setting limits
- using Crow language
- compromising
- giving response time
- reinforcing safety
- planned ignoring
- using if/then statements
- being positive in interactions and wording
- pick our "battles"- think about the ultimate outcome
- calls home- both positive and for behavior
We have Conscious Discipline, the Great 8, and now some CPI (crisis prevention institute) tools. Thank you again for participating and I sincerely hope that you were able to take at least one helpful thing from the training.
