PARENTS ARE THE SOLUTION!
The Boise State University Institute for the Study of Behavioral Health and Addiction and Rob Turrisi, PhD, Penn State University have shared a 6-part series of information with us called Parents are the Solution. Parents are the Solution is designed to provide information about alcohol and other health behaviors to discuss with your high school student. This series is based on more than 20 years of research conducted by psychologists, doctors, teachers, parents and family members like you and is designed to help support parents as they take an active role in helping their teen navigate adolescence.
We invite you to use this resource! Each edition will be embedded in the OHS Parent Newsletter. We encourage you to read each edition and discuss the information with your high school student.

Happy Holidays from the Health Office!
We are excited to offer Owyhee High School students an option for dental cleaning services. West Ada School District and the Family Medical Residency of Idaho have teamed together to open a pediatric dental clinic serving students in the West Ada School District that do not have private dental insurance or Medicaid. The Meridian Schools Clinic is located on the Meridian Elementary School campus and can be contacted for appointments at 208-514-2527. It offers no cost dental cleanings to qualified students.

Tardy Policy/Saturday Detention
Students are allowed a total of 3 tardies (T/TL combined) in each class per semester.
- A tardy (T) is defined as being up to 10 minutes late.
- A Tardy Late (TL) is more than 10 minutes late to class.
A parent call does not excuse a tardy or tardy late. OHS waives a student's tardy when buses arrive late or when other extenuating circumstances arise per administrative approval.
30 minutes of Saturday detention = 1 tardy served
Failure to attend Saturday detention when assigned will result in additional consequences. A student must arrive to Saturday detention prior to 8am in the cafeteria. A student will not be allowed to enter tardy detention after 8am.
If a student does not make up their tardies (T/TL combined) BEFORE the end of the semester they may lose credit for any unserved tardy above 3 per class. This is indicated by an “NC” on their transcript and can have an effect on their graduation progress.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your student's grade level Assistant Principal:
