6th and 8th Grade Field Test
On Wednesday 2/7 and Thursday 2/8, the campus will participate in STAAR Field Test administration. The STAAR Field Test is a state-required test administration to make sure that newly developed test items measure what they were intended to measure. Students will not receive scores from the field test, but it will allow our campus to practice test types and refine our processes in a no-stakes setting. Please help students ensure their iPads are charged, and have them bring their chargers to campus on their testing day. This will only impact 6th and 8th graders.

Lost and Found
Boys Basketball Clipped By The Ducks
Rogers- 7B
Our LVMS 7th grade basketball B team played their final game of the season last night in Taylor against the Ducks. The last game of the season SHOULD be exciting, right? It sure was, The score at the half 8-2, in favor of the Vikings, but Taylor fought back to tie the game at 13 at the buzzer. In the first overtime period, a few free throws missed put us back into a second overtime period. A three-pointer from the Ducks and a FG and free throw kept the Vikings alive through the third and fourth overtime periods. In the FIFTH overtime period, the Vikings had two chances to end the game with free throws, but could not get them to drop. The Ducks managed to sink a free throw and end the game. The final score of the game, after FIVE overtimes was 16-17, Ducks. This final loss puts the final season record at 3-4.
Despite the disappointing loss, the Vikings held their heads up high, congratulated the opposing team and vowed to get ready for next season already. We would like to thank all of the people who made this season possible, including the coaches who coached, the administrators who came to all of our games to admin, the parents who made snacks and picked up their kids everyday after practice, and Daniel and his mom, who ran the clock and kept the books for us at our home games. We wish our A teams the best of luck in their district tournament this weekend. GO VIKINGS!
Our LVMS 8th grade basketball B team played their final game of the season last night in Taylor against the Ducks. The Vikings came out ready to play in the first half, trailing the Ducks by only 8. The score at halftime was 11-19, Ducks. However, the lack of depth on the bench affected the Vikings’ second half play. Several of our team members were missing, due to illnesses and other reasons, but the ones who remained still fought to the end. Many of them were just too worn out to maintain the level of intensity that the victory required. The Vikings fell to the Ducks 18-40. This loss brings the final season record to 0-7.
Despite the disappointing season, the Vikings are enthusiastic about the skills that they learned over the course of the season, and are eager to return to basketball next season. A wise coach once told me, “You are either winning, or learning how to win. The scoreboard is just a display of random lights”. GO VIKINGS!
7th A
The 7th grade Vikings played a tough, physical, athletic Taylor team Thursday night. Some early points from Cole Shroeder and Brody Norris got Lago out to an early lead, and some clutch free throws by Caden Hodd had the Vikings down by 4 at halftime. The game plan was working well as Taylor was forced to take outside shots, unsuccessfully, but rebounded pretty well with a 6’ 5” center in the paint. Lago did it’s best to hang in with some great defense from Levi Castro, Ayden Chaffin, and Jayden Vargas. Going into the 4th quarter, the game was tied, and guards Trevor Lane, Axton Sharrock, and Raylan Horton did their best to control the game’s fast pace. Unfortunately, Taylor made its first two 3-pointers of the game and Lago couldn’t recover. Final score was 27-21. The Vikings will cap off the season Saturday as the #2 seed in the district tournament, playing Lampasas at 8am at LVHS.
8th A
Last night the Lago Vista Vikings took on the Taylor Ducks. Overall, it was a great team effort. Lago Vista came out and played some good hard defense in the in the first half. Overall it was a team effort which ended every individual brought something to the team, leading in rebounds with Jack Wright. Leading the team in steals was Devin Parsons. Overall, it was amazing defense and amazing offense by the Lago Vista Vikings. It was a team effort, and hopefully we can continue this effort and teamwork as we push into the district tournament on Saturday. Vikings ended the game with a lose but with great improvement from the first showing against Taylor.
Lady Vikings Ride With The Mustangs
8th B vs Taylor
The Lady Vikings hosted Taylor this week. Despite a challenging and ultimately heartbreaking loss, the basketball game against Taylor was nothing short of thrilling. The final score, 34-42 in overtime, tells a story of determination and resilience. The Lady Vikings had a slow start in the first half, scoring only 7 points, but rallied in the second half to take a late lead in the fourth quarter. Holding a 2-point advantage with just seconds left, a last-ditch effort by Taylor at the free-throw line tied the score, sending the game into overtime. Sofia Garcia emerged as the offensive standout, earning the title of the offensive player of the game with a season-high of 16 points, including a 3-pointer and crucial free throws in overtime. Helen Munoz contributed 6 points, and Hannah Koenning added 5 points before both fouling out in the fourth quarter. Ava Bailey scored 4 points, Valeria Marin had 2 points, and Elle Head added 1 point. Despite facing foul trouble and injuries, the team fought hard, with Kennedy Brown working tirelessly to bring the ball down the court against a tough Taylor defense before fouling out in overtime. With only 3 players able to continue in the game, Sofia Garcia, Ava Bailey, and Valeria Marin bravely chose to finish the game for their team. While the loss was devastating, the game served as an eye-opener, showcasing the team's capabilities and creating core memories that will last a lifetime. I’m grateful I got to be their coach in this moment.
7th B vs Taylor
It was an exciting final matchup for the basketball season as the Lady Vikings faced off against Taylor and emerged victorious with a final score of 40-14. The Lady Vikings took control early in the first quarter and maintained their lead throughout the entire game. Offensively, Stella Granger was a standout player, contributing 9 points, including a 3-pointer. Peyton Christensen added 8 points, while Liana Stevens and Aaliyah Arthur each scored 6 points. Shelby Rosprim chipped in with 4 points, and Lauren Carpenter made her mark with her first 3-pointer of the season. Molly Cortez and Madison Hawes also contributed with 2 points each. On the defensive end, Stella Maxwell, Ariana Yorek, and Sienna McGuire played crucial roles by grabbing rebounds on both sides of the court, showcasing their toughness. As we end the season I’m so grateful to have coached these players. The team's performance throughout the season shows each players' growth. It was a great season overall, and I look forward to watching the players continue to develop and excel in their future endeavors on the basketball court.
7A - Coming Soon!
8A -
The 8th A Lady Vikings played their final game at LVMS this past Thursday evening taking on the Lady Ducks from Taylor. This is the 3rd matchup of these two teams with each having won one of the previous two. The Lady Ducks came out strong in the first quarter, capitalizing on a few Viking miscues while displaying some hot shooting of their own. The Ducks would lead 9 - 4 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter would see the Lady Vikings creep back into the game getting to within one score by halftime only trailing 16-13. The second half was all Lady Vikings as their defense came alive which in turn sparked the offense. By the end of the third quarter the Lady Vikings would outscore the Lady Ducks 8-2 earning a 21-18 lead going into the 4th and final quarter. In the fourth quarter the Lady Vikings offense would double up Taylor out scoring them 14 - 7 and winning the game 35 - 25. This win gives the girls some momentum going into the District Tournament on Saturday where they will have to take on Jarrell in their first game. I am very proud of how hard these young ladies have worked all season long. They continue to improve each game. Tonight big improvements in breaking the press were made as the girls converted again and again eventually forcing Taylor to back out of it and play half court defense. Wish these girls luck as they compete in the Hill Country District Tournament on Saturday.

Vaping = DAEP
HB 114 makes offenses involving the possession and/or or use of vapes a mandatory DAEP offense. School districts will now be required to place all students who are caught in possession and/or or using vapes (of any kind – not just those with drugs) into their DAEP.
