CMS Governance Council Meeting Reminder
Meeting Information:
ZOOM Meeting ID: 311 364 7004
Attention Parents of Incoming CMS Kindergarten Siblings:
If you have a child who will be entering CMS next school year, please email Terry Lakin at lakint@norwalkps.org. In your email, please include your incoming child's name and the name of your current CMS student.
Eligibility:
- Children entering kindergarten must turn 5 on or before December 31, 2022.
- To qualify as a sibling and receive priority status, both applicant and sibling must attend CMS K-8 in the 2022/2023 school year.
- Even though your child is a CMS sibling, you still must submit a lottery application. (You will be able to note on the application that your child is a CMS sib.)
Starting this year, the NPS district will conduct all of Norwalk's elementary schools of choice lotteries (including CMS). Parents of incoming siblings will need to fill out a district application, specifying CMS K-8. We will let your know when the applications become available.
Also, CMS will be offering information sessions for members of the Norwalk community interested in learning more about our school. Once these dates are set they will be posted on the CMS website. Please let your friends and family know.
From Mr. Smith:
In PE, Kindergarten and First Grade students are continuing their work safely manipulating a variety of equipment. Can you identify these students by their names formed with PE equipment?
Make Someone "SNOW" Happy!
The CMS Student Council needs your support! They want to be someone’s reason to smile! They would like to purchase snow toys for children who stay at the Open Doors (Open Door Shelter).
Starting on January 18 and running through February 4, a container will be placed in the front hall to collect your donations of quarters, dimes, nickels, pennies and dollar bills. Once the collection is over, the Student Council will purchase outdoor winter toys such as inflatable snow tubes, sleds, blocks for building snow forts, snowman decorating kits, snowball makers, and more!
Winter is here! Let's make it a fun experience for all!
The Student Council is hoping to hold an outdoor collection at end-of-day pickup. We'll keep you posted.

Free Virtual Classes for Parents
The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) is currently offering free virtual courses on parent leadership, understanding personal history and its impact on perception. Click here to apply.
PLTI is a family civics initiative created by the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity. PLTI helps parents become leading advocates for children. Parents graduate with an understanding of how systems function and how decisions are made within public policy, which leads to increased skills in civic leadership. PLTI does not SERVICE parents but EMPOWERS them to lead with dignity and integrity.
