Principal Update
6/17/22
Dear LP Families,
Wow! What an amazing, busy week! I love the picture Mrs. Gorevski took of our 5th graders on the hill (see above). We had so much fun celebrating them with a moving up ceremony, picnic, and Seabreeze. We know we need to let them fly but we sure will miss them. They are ready!
In addition to celebrating our 5th graders, we had our final community circle Thursday where we taught, acknowledged, and honored our upcoming holiday, Juneteenth. In observance of this holiday, there is no school Monday, June 20. We will resume school on Tuesday, 6/21 and our last day of school will be Wednesday, 6/22 (this is a full day of school).
Final reminder, report cards will be accessible through the parent portal on 6/22. Directions for setting up your parent portal and finding the report cards can be found below.
Enjoy your weekend,
Dr. Bello
ps: Our "ABC Countdown" continues! The calendar is below so you can anticipate what each day will bring!

Weekly Highlights!
Juneteenth Community Circle
Flag day!
5th grade picnic!
In honor of Juneteenth, our new federal holiday, there will be no school on Monday, June 20th.
What is Juneteenth?
First called “Emancipation Day” by African Americans, Juneteenth celebrates the day, on June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in the U.S. finally learned about their freedom from Union soldiers, in Galveston, Texas. This news came two years after Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863. The word Juneteenth is a combination of “June” and “nineteenth” and is observed on June 19th of each year. This year marks the first anniversary of Juneteenth becoming a federal holiday.
Why do we celebrate it?
We celebrate Juneteenth to honor and celebrate the black Americans who built this nation and reflect on their centuries-long struggle for equal rights. Gaining a greater understanding of our past can help us come together to build a brighter future.
How is it celebrated?
Juneteenth is often celebrated with flag flying, parades, cookouts, music, and African American cultural events. It is also a day for us to reflect, learn and grow together as Americans.
How will we celebrate Juneteenth here at Laurelton-Pardee?
We will celebrate Juneteenth here at LP by teaching students about the significance of the holiday, making Juneteenth flags and coming together to sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing”.
