Bert Steyaert, Honored as US Army All-American
On Wednesday, October 8, the United States Army and Pottsgrove High School announced that, after a nation-wide audition, senior Bernard Steyaert has been offered the prestigious opportunity to march with the US Army All-American Marching Band. Bernard, a five year member of Pottsgrove’s marching band, will travel to San Antonio in December where he will join 124 other talented musicians from around the country. He is one of only nine trombones selected to participate in this ensemble. The group will rehearse throughout the week, in addition to seeing some of San Antonio’s famous landmarks, and will perform their show at halftime of the US Army All-American East vs. West game in the Alamodome on January 3, 2015.
Representatives of the Army and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association were present to congratulate Bernard on his achievements. Mr. Victor Holladay, high school band director, offered some insight as to how Bernard exemplifies an All-American Musician and a true Pottsgrovian. Pottsgrove’s first participant in the All-American Marching Band and instructor for the Falcon marching band, Ms. Victoria Remelius, was also present at this event.
We are very proud to have such an outstanding student musician represent Pottsgrove at this celebrated event.
