Digital Learning Day ~ September 14th

On Tuesday, September 14th, GCPS will host it's first asynchronous digital learning day. During the day, your child will be required to log-in to eCLASS, navigate to his/her teacher's page, locate the daily template, and work through the assignments listed. There will be no live Zooms/sessions.

To prepare for this day, teachers will hold a Mock Digital Learning Day in the computer labs next week. During this time, they will walk students through their pages, guide them through any needed steps, and have them complete an assignment that mirrors one that they will be doing at home. This practice will be extremely beneficial for all students!

Devices sent Home for Digital Learning Day

Throughout the year, we will have 6 Asynchronous Digital Learning Days. If your child(ren) will need a device for the digital learning days this year, please go to our website and complete the "Device Request" form that is located under the headline entitled: "Technology Access Survey". The responses from this form will be used to prepare and check-out needed devices.

**Please be aware that a form will be sent home that MUST be signed and returned in order for your child(ren) to bring a device home. Prices for lost/damaged devices are listed, so please read the form carefully. If you have already submitted this form due to our digital start this school year, that form is on record and you are good to go for DL days.

Children will devices are required to return them the following day! If they are not returned, a member of our tech team will call with a friendly reminder.

Reflections

National PTA's Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.

Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.

The 2021–2022 Reflections theme is I Will Change the World By…

Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.

CAR RIDER REMINDERS:

Please be sure to have your yellow tag visibly displayed by hanging it from the rear-view mirror. It is difficult to see car rider numbers when they are on the dashboard, hidden behind items on the rear-view mirror, or even low on window shields. Please note that if you do not have your yellow tag, you will have to go inside with a picture ID to pick up your car rider. This is to ensure the safety of your children. Thanks for your support as we continue to work towards a fast and safe dismissal of students in the afternoon.

Homework Help @ the Public Library

Bring your homework and get free help from volunteers! Open to grades K-12.

Students can drop in during program hours to work with homework help volunteers on specific assignments or to build skills over time. We offer reading, language arts, and writing tutor help from 5-6 and math tutor help from 5-7. Open to grades K-12.
