Cedar Grove Friday Flash

January 7, 2022

Dear Cedar Grove Families,

Happy New Year and welcome back to our amazing students and staff! We hope that everyone had an enjoyable winter break and that you and your family are well.

As we expected, we are seeing increased numbers of students and staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 since the winter break. Earlier today, MCPS sent the school community an updated message regarding how decisions will be made regarding whether schools will transition from in-person to virtual learning due to positive COVID-19 cases. If you have not had a chance to read this update, please click here to view the message.

Given the rising numbers, it is important that positive COVID cases are reported so we have an accurate idea of the impact of student and staff absences. Therefore, if any student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, please report it to MCPS using this form. This is the same process used during winter break to collect information on students or staff members who tested positive. You may also call your school if you are not able to submit the information electronically.

With the increased difficulty of finding available testing location and available testing sites, please consider in-school weekly COVID-19 testing. Parents must give their permission for in-school testing and they can do so by completing this form. For more details, please visit our "Say Yes to the Test" website.

We have certainly had a few surprises this week with school closures and a delayed opening. Please take a few minutes to become familiar with all of the places where information is posted when the school system announces school cancellations, delayed openings or early closures due to weather conditions and other emergencies.
