EARLY PICK UP REMINDER
If you need to pick up your child before the end of the school day, please pick them up no later than 2:15 (1:15 on Wednesdays). The buses arrive in front of school no later than 2:30 (and 1:30 on Wednesday). Coming no later than 2:15 will ensure the pickup will not interfere with the bus arrival and the beginning of our dismissal process. We appreciate your understanding.
ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Friends, Families and Community Members,
The entire school has been transformed by having staff and students present. This week has been a true celebration of community care. The motto for staff was “All Hands on Deck” so students would feel supported wherever they were. The intentions shared from the district was to slow down and get to know the humans we will be learning and growing with this year. For a peek inside the happenings this week, check out the CCS 2022-23 Photos of the Week.
All classes and teams took a “cafeteria roadshow” tour, led by Tim Holcomb and Meg Powell, in order to reacclimate themselves to the lunchroom procedures and expectations. Students did a great job as they came together to share the meals prepared by our amazing food service staff (Sherry, Vicki, Jeannie, and Deb). A few kindergartners could be overheard making connections with new classmates, “ You like cheese pizza, too? I LOVE cheese pizza!”
Today we had our first PBIS School-wide Assembly which brought students together in grades K-8. This gathering followed the structure of a morning meeting: Greeting, Share, Activity and Message.
Share: The story The Magical Yet was read by Jen and Courtney to give the message that a Growth Mindset will help us achieve our goals this year.
Activity: Next, with the help of three middle schoolers, Robert Caldwell and Superintendent Rene Sanchez, our collaborative effort created Community RAIN. Please take a little time tonight to ask your student(s) how they did this. It sounded spectacular.
Message: As a PBIS school, we believe in the three tenets of We take care of ourselves, We take care of others, and We take care of this place. Tokens of acknowledgements are given to students for modeling these.
We feel lucky to have a number of new staff who have joined us this year, expanding our circle of expertise to support all students:

POWERSCHOOL ANNUAL UPDATES
Now that school is once again in session, please do NOT fill out the annual transportation form. Simply write a note to your child(ren)'s teacher or call/email the front office. We want to make sure that we receive this information in as timely a manner as possible.
Please continue to update the annual contact, permissions, and health forms. We do still need this information to be updated and accurate As Soon As Possible. We want to thank the 52% of our families who have completed their power school updates. Our goal will be to have 100% by the end of the week. This information is critical for us to maintain healthy and safe schools and to keep our lines of communication with you open.

GET EXCITED ABOUT CVSD'S PLAYING FIELDS EVENT AT CVU
September 6 from 6:00-9:00 pm. at CVU
The Flynn is excited to present a new community project called Playing Fields, a free multimedia event held at local schools. Playing Fields is a "welcome back" party after the summer months that also celebrates schools as community centers. This project brings together music and public theater in an open field to create an exciting, communal atmosphere where students, teachers, staff, administrators, families, friends, neighbors, and anyone else in the community can join in the fun. This inaugural event features live music by the energetic world-music band Red Baraat and a simultaneous performance by the mysterious, luminous Birdmen, a large-scale street theater exhibition from the Dutch company Close-Act.
