A Message from the Principal.
Dear Holy Family Catholic School Community,
Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I am so grateful for our HFCS community. We are blessed to be able to celebrate our many events in person this year, Fall Festival, Donuts with Dad, Veterans Day, and our upcoming Thanksgiving Feast hosted by our eighth grade. We have also recently hosted a Lunch and Learn admissions event and a New Parent Coffee.
I am also grateful to these important groups of people who were willing to gather as Strategic Planning Focus Groups: our School Advisory Council, our parents, our teachers, our parish staff, and our parishioners. Many great ideas were discussed at all of our meetings. One idea that gained great strength was the need for new HFCS signage on our campus. Our school is a hidden gem and many voiced the opinion that not enough people know about our school.
The task to create new signage for our school was made clear and I am happy to announce that the designs for the signage are complete and have been approved by Father Hoa. During this process we also realized that the school needed a new logo to help us make our school stand out. The logo is fresh, bold and happy! The yellow symbolizes our Hornet mascot, the new blue compliments the yellow, and our familiar tower connects us to Holy Family Catholic Church.
Here is one of the banners that will be installed before Christmas.
The new logo will be very slowly integrated into our uniform policy, so no need to worry about changing polos anytime soon.
After Thanksgiving I will be surveying the students to see what great ideas they have to add to our HFCS strategic planning efforts.
I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving with your families.
Blessings,
Ann Walters
Principal

Veterans Day Ceremony
Mrs. Walters gave a brief history of Veterans Day and introduced our special guest, Col. Raymond Hanson (Retired). Col. Hanson achieved many accomplishments during his service in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, he became a 5th grade math, history and science teacher for the FWISD. Col. Hanson is a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Parish.
He spoke to parents, faculty, students and staff about "Doing the Right Thing" and four areas of personal growth:
- Honesty and Trustworthiness
- Excellence
- Love
- Faith
When you do your very best, failure is not an option.
Mary Ellen Price and Lauret Miller closed our ceremony with TAPS.
Special thanks to Ms. Kathy Bernal for a lovely ceremony!
“Every athlete exercises discipline in every way. They do it to win a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one.” (1 Corinthians 9:25)
Students were up for the challenge of doing push up right above a piece of chocolate. This was a live demonstration of self-denial, which is giving up something that one likes as a sacrificial offering to the Lord.
