A Message from the Principal.

Dear Holy Family Catholic School Community,

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I am so grateful for our HFCS community. We are blessed to be able to celebrate our many events in person this year, Fall Festival, Donuts with Dad, Veterans Day, and our upcoming Thanksgiving Feast hosted by our eighth grade. We have also recently hosted a Lunch and Learn admissions event and a New Parent Coffee.

I am also grateful to these important groups of people who were willing to gather as Strategic Planning Focus Groups: our School Advisory Council, our parents, our teachers, our parish staff, and our parishioners. Many great ideas were discussed at all of our meetings. One idea that gained great strength was the need for new HFCS signage on our campus. Our school is a hidden gem and many voiced the opinion that not enough people know about our school.

The task to create new signage for our school was made clear and I am happy to announce that the designs for the signage are complete and have been approved by Father Hoa. During this process we also realized that the school needed a new logo to help us make our school stand out. The logo is fresh, bold and happy! The yellow symbolizes our Hornet mascot, the new blue compliments the yellow, and our familiar tower connects us to Holy Family Catholic Church.

Here is one of the banners that will be installed before Christmas.

The new logo will be very slowly integrated into our uniform policy, so no need to worry about changing polos anytime soon.

After Thanksgiving I will be surveying the students to see what great ideas they have to add to our HFCS strategic planning efforts.

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving with your families.

Veterans Day Ceremony

HFCS students celebrated Veterans Day this past Thursday with a lovely and touching ceremony. The band wowed us with The Star-Spangled Banner, The Battle Hymn of the Republic and other patriotic tunes.

Mrs. Walters gave a brief history of Veterans Day and introduced our special guest, Col. Raymond Hanson (Retired). Col. Hanson achieved many accomplishments during his service in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, he became a 5th grade math, history and science teacher for the FWISD. Col. Hanson is a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Parish.

He spoke to parents, faculty, students and staff about "Doing the Right Thing" and four areas of personal growth:

  • Honesty and Trustworthiness
  • Excellence
  • Love
  • Faith

When you do your very best, failure is not an option.

Mary Ellen Price and Lauret Miller closed our ceremony with TAPS.

Special thanks to Ms. Kathy Bernal for a lovely ceremony!

Every athlete exercises discipline in every way. They do it to win a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one.” (1 Corinthians 9:25)

Students were up for the challenge of doing push up right above a piece of chocolate. This was a live demonstration of self-denial, which is giving up something that one likes as a sacrificial offering to the Lord.

Annual Appeal

This past weekend, our students did an excellent job greeting, lectoring and presenting the Gifts at all the Masses in support of the formal kickoff of the school's Annual Appeal.

Thank you to the following students for their participation this weekend...

Mary Ellen Price, Ben Price, Juliana Price, Evan Blandford, Jonathan Howell, David Garcia, Andrew Garcia, Evelyn Uptmore, Kaitlyn Szostek, Levi Szostek, Mia Romero, Lina Romero, Lucy Bengfort, David Granado, Cruz Ramos and Emery Medearis.

Thank yous are also in store for our parent speakers - Mr. Jack Price, Mrs. Mauri Howell, Mrs. Angie Uptmore and Mrs. Lisa Bengfort for their passionate asks of the parish for their financial support of Holy Family Catholic School!

Special thanks to Sr. Immaculata and Mrs. Matthews for organizing the Masses for us!

This year our goal is to raise $50,000.00 to continue to improve our academic programing and student services to support our children.

Please give to the Annual Appeal in order to provide the Catholic education they deserve.

Hornet Soccer

This team is on FIRE! The Hornet Soccer team won both of their games last week!

Come out and cheer them on as they wrap up the season on Tuesday, November 16 vs. St. Joseph and on Thursday, November 18 against Holy Trinity. Both games are at 4:30pm here at Holy Family.

Field Trips are Back!

Kindergarten Goes Wild for the Fort Worth Zoo!

4th Grade Steps Back In Time

Mrs. Conway's 4th Graders visited Log Cabin Village last week, which is a living history museum. They participated in Frontier 101, traveling from cabin to cabin visiting with our historical interpreters dressed in period attire. The interpreters discuss 19th century Texas frontier history, demonstrated various crafts from the time period, and engaged the students in a conversation about the past.

Middle School Retreat

The 6th, 7th and 8th graders had a retreat and field trip to Oakwood Cemetery - the second oldest cemetery in Fort Worth - last Friday. From tombstone rubbings to beautifying the plot for the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur, the students took time to reflect and enjoy the beauty of the our doors!
