Bobcat Bulletin
Week of March 15th
Principal Petrick Message
We are so excited to get to see some of our Bobcats return to school in person on Monday March 29th! In order to prepare for a safe and successful return, our K, 1, 2 Teachers and Instructional Assistants will have three "Transition Days". The days are Wednesday March 17th, Thursday March 18th and Friday March 19th. During Teacher Transition Days, teachers will provide their students with asynchronous work. There will be no synchronous sessions for students in K-2 on the aforementioned days, as their teacher will be working on setting up their classrooms and completing training to prepare a safe return for students.
CDL will remain as normal for grades 3-6 next week. However, our 3-4 grade teachers will need their Transition Days on March 31, April 1 and 2 in order to prepare their classrooms and complete trainings for the start of 3-4 grade Hybrid on April 5th. This same pattern of 3 asynchronous days will repeat for 5/6 on April 6,7,8 as the 5th/6th team get ready for a Hybrid start on Monday April 12th.*Note Friday April 9th is a No School Teacher Grading Day.
We are in the midst of finalizing our new Hybrid schedule. You will have the schedule adjustments prior to Spring Break so you know what adjustments to expect. The Hybrid schedule will change our current CDL times for the grades who have shifted to the Hybrid model. The Hybrid day for students coming in person begins at 7:45a.m. so it is likely Morning Meetings for all students (Hybrid and CDL) will start around 8a.m. Your child's teacher will be communicating more nuances to the schedule changes at the conclusion of next week.
Finally, another impact that the switch to Hybrid will cause will be a change to many small groups. Although CDL is imperfect for students and teachers (and many parents too!) it has allowed us to provide more small group time than ever before. This was possible because our Instructional Assistants had no supervision duty at school. With Hybrid bringing students back to school, we will have less time for small groups because we will have to allocate more I.A. time to supervise students as well as meeting the safety guideline demands of cohorting. Small groups won't go away entirely, but they will become less frequent.
Thanks for reading this long message! Lots of important information below - including the Bobcat Goes To School Video!
