COVID-19 cases this week

As of noon on Friday, this week we had 10 newly reported positive students case at Forest Lake Elementary this. We will continue to follow guidelines as spelled out in the district’s School-Based COVID-19 Mitigation Matrix.

Headphones for Testing

If you child has corded headphones at home that they could bring to school for upcoming testing, that would be very helpful. We encourage students to label their headphones with their name if they do bring them to school. Any model that can plug into a computer will work.

STUDENT DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP PROCEDURES

We have made a few changes to our drop-off and pick-up procedures. This is in anticipation that we will be having days of individual buses being cancelled and we want to prepare for the extra parent traffic. Thank you for your cooperation. A few items to note:

  • We will have new cones out to help with flow of traffic.
  • If you have students at both Forest View and Forest Lake Elementary, you can pick students up at the Forest View location. You do not need to come through both lines.
  • The exit for drop off and pick up time is different and will hopefully help with the congested 5-way stop at the intersection of 4th street and 4th avenue.
  • If you have friends, family or neighbors planning to drop off or pick up, please share these procedures with them as they may not be familiar with our school.
  • Please refer to map below for updated procedures.

RAPID COVID TESTS: 1 BOX PER CHILD

  • You can request a COVID rapid test for your student should he/she become symptomatic. The rapid tests are free. You will receive 1 box that contains 2 rapid tests. These tests have been provided to schools in MN and are for your convenience. All rapid tests must be administered at home by a parent. We do not test students at school.
  • Use this link to request an at home test. COVID Test Request Form
  • Students should remain home if not feeling well.
  • Students are encouraged (not required) to wear high quality face coverings during the school day. The CDC and MN Dept. Health both recommend a medical 3-ply mask or KN95/N95 as preferable to a cloth face mask.

ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Testing

Shortage of bus drivers

  • Learn your bus number! If any routes are canceled, a district-wide message will be sent to you saying bus # ?? is not going to be running that particular day.
  • Make a contingency plan. Decide ahead of time what you will do if your bus route is canceled.
  • If a route is canceled, students may still attend school if you can transport them.
  • If families are not able to transport student(s), students should email their homeroom teacher for assignments for that day
