News from our Nurse
If you are wondering what to do if your student has COVID-19 or was exposed, here is some guidance:
- Discuss with your health care provider.
- Those who test positive for COVID-19 are encouraged to isolate for five full days.
- Exposed students may continue to take part in all in-person instruction, including athletics, performing arts, and other extracurricular activities, as long as they are not symptomatic. If an exposed student develops symptoms, they are encouraged to isolate at home.
All COVID-19 info is on the district and school websites under DEPARTMENTS & PROGRAMS …. HEALTH SERVICES
Vision screenings for grades K-3 and grade 5 are scheduled for the week of September 25th. The screen will be done with a spot screening device and will take less than 30 seconds to perform. If your child wears glasses or contacts they will be needed for the exam, so please help ensure your child has them. No news is good news! If follow-up by a licensed vision specialist is needed, your child will come home with a referral form in their backpack. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns

End of the School Day
Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we adjust to changing bus arrivals at the end of the school day.
Here are a few things that you can do to help us:
1- Have a regular after school plan
2- If there is change in your child's transportation arrangements, please be sure to contact the school office, before 2pm (12:00pm on Friday). This includes when someone new/different is picking up your child from school. You may send in a signed note or call the office in the morning (360-563-7075) to change arrangements. The end of the day is a very busy time for us so we greatly appreciate knowing of these changes in the morning whenever possible.
Library News
Hello families,
I am excited for another year of cultivating the joy of reading in the Cathcart Library. Our library doesn't just offer students reading materials, but other programming like lunch recess activities, art projects, STEAM challenges, book clubs, reading & writing challenges, and more. Follow the library's Instagram account, Cathcartreads, to keep up with what is happening. It's already been busy!
This week 1st -6th grade students will start Chromebook Camp where they will learn about the district's new 1-1 devices, they will be borrowing this year. Students will learn the expectations for use and care of their assigned Chromebook and begin learning how to use it. First through fourth grade students will keep their Chromebooks at school. Fifth, sixth, and our 4/5/6 class will be allowed to bring devices home. Please go over the expectations sheets that will come home with your students in the coming days. Throughout the school year I will teach students how to use the Chromebook as tool to enhance their learning experience. Families, if you have not yet looked into the district's optional protection plan that covers Chromebook damages, this would be a great time to do that. The information is here.

You can wow all your friends with the cool things you can do on one wheel! Practices are every Friday after school in the gym until 2:30. We perform at local parades and other places in the area throughout the school year. Unicycles and team t-shirts are provided. Annual club fee is $65. Pick up a registration form in the school office. Practices start October 6th but you can join any time.

Nominate a district staff member for a Golden Apple!
Is there a district employee who you would like the district to recognize for helping our students thrive? We are excited to share the launch of Golden Apple - an employee recognition program that will recognize two staff members quarterly for their student-centered service to students, staff, families and/or community. Staff members selected for this quarterly honor will be recognized for helping “create an educational community that ignites a passion for learning where every student is known and empowered.”
Students, parents/guardians, district staff, and community members are encouraged to nominate a staff member at any time! Visit www.sno.wednet.edu/goldenapple to learn more or to nominate a staff member!
