Pajama Day and Read-In

Students are invited to wear pajamas or comfy clothes to school on Tuesday, November 20th. This all school Pajama Day will be celebrated with a Read-In in the afternoon. We are looking forward to a cozy day of getting lost in our books!

End of Day Procedures

We want to make sure all of our students are safely delivered to you all at the end of each school day. Here are reminders of what we need from families if there is a change in the after school plans for your child.

If you are picking up your child for early dismissal:

Use Safe Arrival to report the time and reason for early dismissal. When it is time to pick up your child, please come to Door #1 to be buzzed into the office.

If you are changing the way your child will be leaving school:

Send a note along with your child or call the school Mrs. Perez (970-1805). State what the change in dismissal will look like. Students will only be released to the parent/guardian who has custody of the child unless you have given your written permission in advance to release your child with another adult. Picture ID will be requested of these individuals. If your child will be riding a different bus with another student, the office must be notified from both parents.

Please do not call the office to have your child change from bus to parent pick-up or vice-versa after 2:30 p.m. At the end of the day, Mrs. Perez has had phone calls as late as 3:35 to change a child’s dismissal to parent pick-up or bus. She is often alone in the office after 2:30 and cannot get messages to students when they are late in the day. Your cooperation on this is greatly appreciated.

READ A THON UPDATE!

November reading log calendars and earned Pizza Hut and Kwik Trip coupons should be coming home today. Apologies for the delay in the calendars. This months top three participating classes were:
3rd place-Mrs Lauer’s 2nd graders with 50% class participation
2nd place-Mr.Roessler’s 4th graders with 52% class participation
The winning class was Ms. Holt’s 1st graders with a whopping 58% of the class participating!
These little bookworms will be receiving a special coupon for a treat at Dairy Queen sometime next week!!
Great work. Keep encouraging your kiddos to read and log their time so their class can win a special DQ treat!!

Safe Arrival - Available Now!

Hillcrest is now fully up and running with the district's new attendance reporting system, Safe Arrival. Safe Arrival allows you to report an absence or appointment at any time from your phone. Our attendance line is still available for reporting absences but we encourage you to give Safe Arrival a try. We know you will find it to be an easy to use system that is available at times that work for YOU!

1) By far the easiest way to interact with the new system is by downloading the app on your phone and signing up for an account.

2) If you are not an app user and prefer to use your computer signup and login at https://go.schoolmessenger.com/

3) The phone option is still available by calling the attendance line at school. There will be a menu there to transfer your call into the new system. You may however, want to use the direct number 1-866-490-7371. By dialing direct from a phone that is registered with the district, the system should recognize the number you are calling from and be able to quickly identify your children and allow you to confirm their absence.
