History of jail

North County Correctional Facility(NCCF) is a Los Angeles county jail, run by the Los Angeles county correctional facility sheriff. Located approximately 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, it is one of four jails located within the Pitchless detention center.

James joe Moreno

James joe Moreno was a inmate at the prison named above, James was sectenced to death and killed 3 years ago. James family sued the jail because he was abused and hurt by the other inmates and guards. James family said that James was under a lot of stress before his death sentence


James family filed a law suit. The law suit went on for 3 years against the Los Angeles jail. Moreno family members allege in their lawsuit that Moreno’s constitutional rights were violated by unnamed deputies when he was assaulted and fatally injured by other inmates at the North County Correctional Facility at the Pitchess Detention Center on Aug. 27, 2012.

Court ruling

Los Angeles County supervisors agreed Tuesday to pay $185,000 in a lawsuit settlement to the family of James Joe Moreno. The L.A. County Board of Supervisors approved the recommendation of county lawyers to “authorize settlement” of the Jaime A. Moreno versus Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department lawsuit in the amount of $185,000, according to a letter written by Patrick A. Wu, senior assistant county counsel of the county’s executive office. Money paid to the victim’s family would be taken from the LASD’s budget
