Making the Connection: Helping Others in the Community

Casey Stone, eighth grader at Murray Avenue, is the co-chair of Traci's Tribe, a non-profit organization that recently accomplished an exciting goal: raising $55,000 with a fundraising event called Kids Comfort for Cancer. Casey organized an event for families with a DJ, food, and 100 raffle basket and silent auction items. The funds were donated to Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Casey was recently recognized on several local media outlets including PHL17, Fox 29's "For Goodness Sake" segment, and an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Murray Avenue held a spirit day, "Wear Camo for Kids Cancer" and collected $275.00 in donations to contribute towards Casey's fundraising efforts.

Congratuations, Casey--we are so proud of you!

Grade 6 Technology Information

Our district uses Securly to filter students' online activity on their school-issued devices. Securly is enabled whenever students sign in using their school google sign on, even at home on other devices.

Securly sends parents/guardians a weekly activity report email for their child. This email contains a direct link to the Parent Portal. Parents/guardians can choose how frequently they want to receive updates about their child's online activity.

It has come to our attention that Grade 6 parents have not been receiving the weekly emails generated for parents and guardians automatically through Securly. This week Grade 6 families will receive a welcome email from Securly with specific login information. The emails will be sent to the guardian email addresses we have on file for each MA guardian in eSchool.

Upcoming Grade 8 High School Transition Activities

Over the next few weeks we will be doing some specific activities to prepare our eighth grade students for their transition to high school.

On Wednesday, February 5, 2019, high school counselors will visit Social Studies classes to give students an overview of the high school Program of Studies and scheduling process. In the evening, there will be a meeting for parents and guardians about the scheduling process as well as curriculum information held at the high school at 7:00 pm in the auditorium.

Grade 8 students will choose electives for Grade 9 between February 5 and February 12th. Parents/guardians will be able to view their child's choices in the Home Access System between February 18, 2020 and February 21, 2020. During this time, parents/guardians can call the office to make changes if necessary. Elective choices will only be viewable during this window.

A Message from Our Athletic Director, Mr. Matt Heiland

Spring Sport Registrations on FamilyID will open on 2/10.

I wanted to bring an important issue in youth sports to the attention of our Lower Moreland families. Youth sports officiating is at a critical point with 80% of new officials stopping within two years. I would like to remind our students and families to treat our officials with respect. I encourage everyone to thank them for their services after games and make Lower Moreland a place they want to return to in the future.

Here is an article with more information about the referee shortage: https://www.inquirer.com/high-school-sports/pennsylvania/official-shortage-referee-high-school-youth-sports-southeastern-pennsylvania-south-jersey-20191101.html

LMTSD Bullying Prevention Information

We wanted to provide some information to families following our LMTSD Parent/Guardian Bullying Prevention Information survey. Below are some answers to some Frequently Asked Questions and information related to district procedures.

Are you aware of the anonymous reporting system being used in Pennsylvania, Safe2Say Something?

Safe2Say Something is a statewide anonymous, 24-7, reporting process for a variety of safety concerns. Click HERE for more information on this initiative.

Are you aware of the Lower Moreland Township School District Harassment/Bullying Reporting Form?

This form is used to gather information about incidents related to bullying. Students, parents, teachers, and administrators can all use this form. This form can be found on each school’s website. Click HERE to view the form.

As a parent, I have a clear understanding of the school's policies, practices, and procedures related to issues of harassment and bullying.

All reported incidents related to bullying are investigated, regardless of how they are reported. The District Code of Conduct is the structure used to apply consequences. Cases are referred to the police if the nature of the incident requires it.

We continue to partner with students, staff, and families to provide a safe environment for all students.
