Specialty Shoutouts - Citizenship
The Spanish shout out this week goes to a second grade student. His behavior in class yesterday was exemplary. He came in ready to learn, he did his best in every activity and he was responsible for his own behavior. These are all characteristics of a good citizen. Congratulations Miles!
The specialty shout out for art class goes to Jaylen in Mrs. Plass' class. Jaylen displays good citizenship in art class by the way he interacts with others. He comes in quietly, finds his seat and listens for directions. Jaylen is a good participant in discussions, always offering an idea that demonstrates thought and connection to the subject. In addition he is a good friend and help to his classmates when needed. Thanks for being such a great citizen in the art room Jaylen!
The specialty shout out for music class goes to Hollis in Ms. Lescher's class. Hollis displays citizenship every week during music class. Hollis helps out our class by always following directions, helping with dance moves and doing her very best during vocal rehearals. Hollis leads by example and influences others to try their best in music class. Great job Hollis!
The specialty shout for Technology class goes to Samyukta in Mrs. McCutcheon's Second Grade class. In our most recent Technology class I noticed Samyu helping others who struggled with formatting skills like text wrapping. Anytime Samyu has a question she follows the proper procedures like raising her hand and waiting to speak until I have done helping other students. Following rules, helping others, and being respectful are all great citizenship qualities. Thank you Samyu for being a wonderful role model and fellow classmate to your peers. We should all feel lucky to have you in our school community!
The specialty shout out for P.E. goes to Dennis in 2nd grade! Dennis demonstrated care and concern in aftercare and humbly helped pick up other student's garbage at his table. He did this without asking. Dennis makes a conscious effort to help and show care/concern for his environment, the interactions with students, and is always trying to do the right thing at school. Way to go Dennis! You are an awesome human being and citizen!

School Support Team
As I transition out on maternity leave our priority remains the children who attend Chesterbrook Elementary. During my leave we have established many layers of support for the school.
Mrs. Hasson will continue her work as the Assistant to the Principal, overseeing the daily operations of the school. She will be assisted by Mrs. Navarro, who will become a familiar face at the front desk. Our Executive Director, Mrs. Tina Hubbard, will be supporting the school both on and off-site. Mrs. Hubbard has established a schedule of two on-site visits each month to be available to staff, students and families.
The teachers in grades K-5 formed Leadership Teams this year and will continue to work together with additional support from the NLCI Education Department. Rosemary Cataldi is one of our Education Managers who will visit the school once in April and once in May making herself available to meet with teachers, students and parents ensuring education quality and consistency.
In addition to on-site Administrative, Operations and Education support we are adding two more layers to include enrollment and financial assistance. Mr. Mike Williams, Principal at Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School in Raleigh, NC, will be on site every Wednesday and Thursday beginning April 20th to support the school’s enrollment needs, including but not limited to giving tours, scheduling discovery days and following up with families who have not yet registered. Mr. Jon Bechtel will visit the school on the fourth week of each month to answer any billing or financial questions.
Contact information for each of the support team members is provided below. Please see the Support Schedule on the reverse side for more detailed information regarding school visits. Of course, Mrs. Hasson and Mrs. Navarro will be at the school each day to answer questions as needed.
We are all committed to working together to make this transition as smooth as possible for you and your children. We value your presence and partnership in our school community, and I look forward to seeing you all in the fall!
