Dear Wellington Parents,

Welcome back all of our Wildcats, old and new, for another great year at WES! We had a wonderful first week back! It was awesome to see students ready to learn with fresh haircuts, new backpacks, and a positive outlook on what lies ahead for them in the next grade. Everyone plays a part in making this year the best ever for ALL of our students and we couldn't do it without the help and support of YOU! As you read through the items below, please remember that everything we do at WES is in the best interest of kids and your cooperation is appreciated by modeling the guidelines and procedures we have in place. I'm looking forward to having a fabulous year! I hope you find the information below helpful!

New Security Vestibules

New procedures are in place for entry into all schools across LISD. A video explaining these procedures was sent to all parents on August 2nd. If you missed the email or the information at grade level orientations, you can click HERE to view the video. As I mentioned in my back-to-school letter, please do not be offended when we ask for your identification, even if we know you. If you do not have an accepted form of identification, you will not be given access to the building. This is the procedure that all schools are following to ensure the safety of our staff and students.
Big picture

  • Lunch visitors are welcome to join us on Monday, August 26th!

  • PTA Meeting scheduled for September 17th. After school clubs will also be showcased following the meeting. Sign ups will begin the following morning. A link will be provided closer to the date.

  • When writing checks, be sure to include your name, address, and phone number on the check. Thank you!

LATE Arrivals

If you arrive after 7:45 am, please park your car to walk your child into the building. We will have a sign out front coming soon to remind you that the bell has already rung. Thanks for your understanding!

Voly Updates Needed:

We are excited for the start of the 2019-2020 school year! With a new year comes a continued need for volunteers on our campus. School board policy does require volunteers to undergo and pass a criminal background check prior to volunteering on a campus. Our background check is done in partnership with our volunteer management system, VOLY (our VOLY site in LISD is Lewisvilleisd.voly.org). Please remember, as an added step to ensure the safety of our students, you will still have your drivers license run through our Raptor system upon arrival at the campus. The Raptor system is a real-time sex offender check. Volunteers must pass both the Raptor and VOLY check in order to volunteer.

A few notes about volunteering and background checks:

The criminal background check in LISD is good for three school years. If your background check expired on 6/30/2019, you received an e-mail from the LISD Human Resources department the week of 7/22/2019 letting you know of your expired status. You will need to resubmit for a background check through your VOLY account. Please be aware that processing can take 2-3 weeks during busy seasons.

All returning volunteers will need to renew their VOLY application upon their first sign in for the school year regardless of your background check status. If you have done this step as part of your back to school forms, then you will not be asked to do that again. If you need to do this for the first time, please select My Applications and then “Application”. If no information has changed, scroll down and click “Save”.

  • Please be sure the schools you want to volunteer with this year are selected; if they are not, the campus where you want to volunteer will not see you on their list of approved volunteers
  • Note that new fields have been added to the application – if you are volunteering on behalf of a business, civic, or faith-based organization, please be sure to add that information
  • Your skill set is asked in order to support classroom instruction, as needed – be sure your skill set is up to date in case we need your particular skills on our campus
  • After making any needed changes, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Save application”

Please note that viewing the Orientation slides is no longer a required step to volunteer, but will be available for your reference.

Thank you for volunteering with us! More information and FAQ’s can be found at lisd.net/volunteer. Questions or support needs can be sent to Partnerships@lisd.net. They will respond as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience during a very busy time of the year!
