Holly Academy News & Views
September 17, 2021
Oh my goodness! We had a terrific turnout for the Holly Days Parade! We had our largest group of Huskies in recent memory. THANK YOU to everyone that participated. Also, thank you to our staff members that represented Holly Academy at the Community Play Day and those of you that visited our station. We received lots of love from the community! It's great to be a Husky!
Substitute Teachers
We are in dire need of substitute teachers. If you have 60 or more credit hours from an accredited college or university you meet the requirements to be a substitute. Subs earn $100 per day and are also enrolled in the Michigan Teacher Pension Program. We would love to have you join our pack! Dare to be remarkable!
We were pleased with the number of families that attended our Virtual Curriculum Night on Monday. For those of you that could not attend the event, the links will be available on our website in the Curriculum Corner tab, soon.

OCTOBER BREAKFAST AND LUNCH ORDER FORM
Holly Academy Families,
The breakfast and lunch order form for October has been completed. All orders must be placed by 10:00am on Friday, September 24th. At that time the link to the form will no longer be available.
Due to supply chain issues, menu items are subject to change.
All pizza orders for additional slices that were ordered for August/September have been reconciled. Emails were sent to families if a balance is owed. If you have a balance due and have not paid this by the time the October orders are due, those students will only be eligible for 1 slice of pizza for the month of October.
Step 1:
Please use the link below to place your breakfast and lunch orders through the end of October. A separate form will need to be completed for each child. If a form is completed for a child more than once, we will use the first submission unless we receive communication from the parent/guardian that the first submission should be voided for their child. Once you submit your form you will receive an email that shows all of your selections. The sender of this email will show as Google Forms. Please check your spam folder.
You must make a selection for every meal. You will have multiple choice options for each day.
All breakfasts and Tuesday through Thursday lunches:
1. None
2. Menu item w/ White Milk
3. Menu item w/ Chocolate Milk
Pizza Days (Mondays and Fridays)

October Breakfast and Lunch Order Form
Step 2:
If you choose additional slices of pizza for your child(ren) you will need to make a separate payment on RevTrak (preferred method of payment) or send a check or money order to the school.
For those families that choose to pay via RevTrak, below is the link to the RevTrak account that we will be using for payments. You must pay for each child separately as these are tracked by homeroom teachers. If you are new to Holly Academy or have not used RevTrak in the past, you will need to follow the steps in RevTrak to create an account. New account set-up will be completed once you choose to checkout. Please do not pay under any other account in RevTrak other than Food Service.
If you are paying via check/money order, you may pay for all students on one check or money order. Please make the check payable to HOLLY ACADEMY, label the envelope as Pizza Lunch and ensure that all student names and homerooms are listed on the memo line of the check or money order or provide a sheet stating this information.
All payments are due by Monday, October 1st.
Sample payment amounts for pizza orders (pricing is only for the October dates):
2 slices on Monday/Friday for all applicable days: $10.50
3 slices on Monday/Friday for all applicable days: $21.00
2 slices on Monday only for all applicable days: $6.00
3 slices on Monday only for all applicable days: $12.00
2 slices on Friday only for all applicable days: $4.50
3 slices on Friday only for all applicable days: $9.00

Parking lot
The safety of our Huskies is our number one priority. We have noticed that students are running between cars in the morning in the west parking lot. If you are dropping off your Husky to walk into the school, we request that you walk them from the car to the door. Thank you.
Copper Country Coders is a student-led organization at Michigan Technological University dedicated to educating pre-college students in programming and all the fun included. Each year, we offer a variety of courses that range in difficulty for students with absolutely no experience to students who excel with programming.
Classes are held on Saturdays from 1 to 2:30pm. There will be roughly 10 classes per MTU semester as we take breaks for holidays. As for cost, we simply ask for donations to those that can afford it, otherwise we are 100% free. You can find more information about us on our website, coders.mtu.edu. For middle school students interested, there will be a Zoom orientation on September 25, 2021, from 1-2:30pm.

Healthy Huskies
Over the past two weeks, it has been unfortunate that we have had some positive COVID cases and have had to quarantine students and staff members. We need your help to keep our Huskies as safe and healthy as possible. Please adhere to the following guidelines:
1. If your Husky has any symptoms related to COVID, keep them home and visit a physician. Huskies may return with a physician’s note. We recommend COVID testing if your student has symptoms for three days.
- COVID symptoms include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea.
Current quarantine guidelines:
Oakland County Health Department has considered the need to balance COVID-19 transmission risks with the impact of longer quarantine periods on student learning and participation in school activities when endorsing the following three quarantine scenarios:
A 14 day quarantine is still the best quarantine strategy after known COVID-19 close contact.
OCHD is recommending a 10 day reduced quarantine strategy (stay home for 10 days after exposure while wearing a mask and physically distancing from others). Holly Academy is now adhering to the 10 day quarantine, rather than 14 days.
A 7 day COVID-19 test option can be implemented. The test must be:
- A PCR test (not a rapid or at-home test)
- The testing occurs no sooner than 7 days after the exposure date
- The student may return to school on day 8 with a negative PCR result
* These modified mitigation measures may be changed at the discretion of OCHD.
