Principal's Message

Dear Eagles,

We hope that you are all thoroughly enjoying your summer break and are also excited to begin what promises to be a great school year! Particularly the past couple of years, changes to the school day schedule, policies and procedures seem to have kept us all constantly looking for answers. I would strongly encourage families to read these newsletters when sent home to keep current on what is going on in our school and district.

We hope they have the information you need when you need it presented in a way that makes sense.

You can also call our front office if you have any questions or concerns that we can address.

Lani Russi

Principal, TLES

Teacher assignments will be available online through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal beginning Thursday, August 11 at 4:30 PM. Please contact our office if you need help accessing your parent portal.

While some of our tech savvy students and parents have found ways to access rosters early, please know that what you see prior to Aug. 11 at 4:30 PM is a draft and may change. All placements are tentative until school starts and we are able to see students in seats.

Please note:

No changes to class assignments will be considered until after the first 10 days of school. We have worked hard to create balanced classes and until we can confirm enrollment numbers we will not make any changes.

Gates open at 8:40 AM. Please do not drop children off prior to 8:40 AM as there will not be supervision for them unless enrolled in our BASES program.

Daily Schedule for Grades 1-5: M, T, Th, F 8:50 AM-3:15 PM

Wednesdays: ALL STUDENTS TK-5 attend 8:50 AM-12:55 PM

TK and Kinder Early Birds attend M, T, Th, F from 8:50 AM-12:55 PM

Wednesdays 8:50 AM-12:55 PM

TK and Kinder Late Birds attend M, T, Th, F from 10:25-2:30 PM

Wednesdays 8:50 AM-12:55 PM

**Please note start and end times are 5 minutes earlier this year than in years past.**

The first day of school for students is Monday, August 15, 2022. This is a MODIFIED DAY so all students TK-5 will attend from 8:50 AM-12:55 PM.

TK and Kinder students are strongly encouraged to participate in class color days the first two days of school to help guide them to the right classroom. Once you know your child's assigned teacher, encourage your child to wear these colors:

Candray: Purple

Baltas: Yellow

Bates: Blue

Breen: Red

Medina: Green

The first day of school is also Aloha day for all grades as we welcome our students back to school. We encourage students to dress in whatever makes them happy and feel ready to learn. This can be Hawaiian attire, but can also be any special outfit that is school appropriate. We just want students and families to know that all are welcome at TLES!

Our TLES staff will be wearing black staff shirts and colorful leis on day 1 so we are easy to recognize and so you know we are here to help! <3

Our gates open at 8:40 AM. Please do not drop students off before 8:40 AM as there is no supervision for them.

Students may walk or ride their bikes to school, be walked to the gate, or dropped off in the pick-up/drop off loop. Families may walk students to their classroom door on the first day of school only but may not enter the classroom nor linger outside to avoid a crowded situation. Starting day 2, families may not enter campus and should drop students off in the loop or at the gate.

Please ensure you remain in your vehicle when using the drop off loop and that you continue to pull forward to keep traffic moving. Please do not drop off your child in the loop until after your pass the crosswalk/office doors. There is no dropping off until after you pass the crosswalk and you will be asked to pull forward. Please be respectful to our staff on duty and to other families by following this process. If you would like to walk your students to their gate, please park in the lot or along the street but not in the loop.

We also ask that you please model safe and appropriate behavior for our students by using crosswalks rather than walking through traffic. There are crosswalks located in front of the office and at the stop sign near the kinder playground.

Modified dismissal is at 12:55 PM for all students. The first day of school is a modified day.

Dismissal on regular days is 3:15 PM for grades 1-5, 12:55 PM for Early Bird TK and Kinder and 2:25 for Late Bird TK and Kinder.

Please be courteous to others and do not leave your vehicle while you are in the loop. If you plan to meet your child at the gate, please park in the parking lot or on the street.

Please NO PARKING in the loop and again we ask that you please use crosswalks located in front of the office or near the kinder playground rather than walking through traffic. We want to keep everyone safe and model appropriate behavior for our students.

Back to School Night is IN PERSON on Thursday, August 18, 2022. The schedules is as follows:

5:00- Gates Open

5:30- PTA Meeting/Presentation in MPR (all families are welcome)

6:00-6:25 Classroom Presentation 1

6:30-6:55 Classroom Presentation 2

If you only have one child at our school you may choose to attend either presentation as they are identical. If you have more than one child, this gives you the opportunity to watch presentations for two different classes the same evening.

**Because administration and teachers will be presenting important information to families about goals and expectations for the year, we ask that parents do their best to find childcare for this evening so your focus can be on the presentations. This is one of the few events of the year that is intended for the adults so we can establish a partnership to support the students the rest of the year together.

Please refer to our handbook for more school site information.
