Second Grade News
Week of February 10th-14th
Valentine's Festivities!
ELA:
We read: A Weed is a Flower. A biography about George Washington Carver.
Math:
We worked on three digit addition with regrouping this week. The class had some fun practicing with white boards! On Friday, we also made heart headbands with 3 digit addition problems.
Science:
We wrapped up our Earthquake projects! The kids worked together in groups to come up with a plan for a structure. They brainstormed, drew a design, and finally built their structures. All they could use was index cards, tape and craft sticks. Their structures had to support the weight of a Post-it Note pad, while someone shook the table for 10 seconds. All of their structures were successful!! Great job kiddos.
Social Studies:
Along with the President's Day project that was sent home, we also worked on another one in class. The children used their booklets to find information, as well as the Ipads to do some online research. We also did a writing piece on; "If I Were President".
Coming Up This Week:
ELA:
We will read: Rosa and Blanca. Genre: Realistic Fiction.
You can read it at home here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsadwBJuPB8
Amazing Words: abundant, assist, dismay, generous, efficient, beam, forever, situation.
