A Message from Dr. Stone
Good evening,
Semester break is almost here! Exams start next week so look at the schedule below to see what your student should be studying for each evening. I hope that everyone has a great rest of the week!
If you haven't heard, WCJH is partnering up with Stockdick Junior High for a Reason2Race on February 8, 2020. The race raises money for the KatyISD Foundation that provides grants to classroom teachers in our district so they can continue to provide unparallelled experiences for students. WCJH has been fortunate to benefit from these grants in past years! The campus team who raises the most money gets "The Golden Shoe" and bragging rights for the whole year. If you feel so inclined, please consider donating any amount of money to any of our staff members who have signed up, including myself!
Please help this 'ol competitive girl win bragging rights! We appreciate your support!

Permanent School ID Notice
Parents-
As you will recall, Katy ISD requires students at the secondary level to wear identification badges during the school day. The ID badge is to be worn where it is easily visible throughout the day. When students do not have their IDs, they are to report to the cafeteria in the morning, or the AP office throughout the day, to obtain a temporary ID. If a student misplaces their ID, they can purchase one for $3 in the library.
Since beginning our “random ID sweeps”, we have noticed many students are obtaining a temporary ID each day, but not replacing their lost IDs. This has caused an inordinate amount of financial strain given the cost of printing over a 100 temporary IDs each and every day.
Because this is an important safety measure and the financial burden of printing temporary IDs has become apparent, campus administration have discussed the best means to address this situation. Beginning January 7th, 2020, random “ID sweeps” will be conducted during class periods to identify students who are not wearing their permanent ID badge. Those students will be automatically assigned a lunch detention. Between now and the start of the next semester, lost IDs can be replaced in the library at NO CHARGE!
We appreciate your help in talking to your student about the importance of wearing ID badges.

8th Grade Career Day
WoodCreek Junior High and Junior Achievement invite you to participate in our 8th Grade Career Day! As a school, we are committed to exposing our students to a wide variety of careers. The purpose of this soon to be annual event is to motivate our students by working closely with the community to help improve their educational outcome. You are essential to a successful day!
We are working to educate our students on the various paths that are available to them, and we need community business partners and community members to provide their talents and expertise for students. We would be honored if you would accept our invitation to participate as a Career Speaker on Friday January 17, 2020 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM or a Career Table scheduled for 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.
Career Speaker:
You will have 35-40 minutes to introduce yourself, your career and what an average day looks like for you in the work place. Feel free to create a PowerPoint, provide handouts or bring props to help you with your presentation. You will be provided a volunteer guide to assist with the planning and preparation of your event.
Career Tables:
Your table should display the career you represent and you should provide handouts that explain the following:
• the preparation your career requires
• what your job entails daily
• insights or inspiration you could provide to motivate our students as they continue on to their secondary school studies and plan for their college/university options.
• you are encouraged to bring props, photos, or any other type of visual aids that will provide our students with a better understanding of your career.
We would really appreciate your personal contribution toward a successful career day however, if you are unable to attend, please feel free to share this information with your co-workers to see if they are interested.
We look forward to your response by Friday December 20, 2019. At that time, additional information will be forwarded to you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Aliyah Thomas at aliyahthomas@katyisd.org or Kelly Watkins at kellymwatkins@katyisd.org.
