Newborn Appearance

A newborn baby doesn't come out looking so perfect at first. When they are born they have little hairs all over them. They also don't have pretty pink skin like some expect. Usually they come out red or a little purple-ish. Their nose might be flat and their head can be oval and long.

Bonding With Your Infant

Bonding With Your Infant

It is very important to have a strong connection with your infant. You can bond with them by reading to them while they get familiar with your voice. You can sing to comfort them. You can play with them and help them learn.

Appropriate Toys For Infants

A appropriate toy for infants is made of durable materials and is painted with non toxic substances. It should have rounded edges and have tightly constructed parts. It needs to be age appropriate and shouldn't have cords longer than 12 inches. It's also helpful if it has bright colors and fun pictures on it. Some examples are soft blocks, rattlers, puzzles, balls, and walkers.

Breast and Bottle Feeding

Breast feeding pros: all natural, helps mom lose weight, there's no air bubbles, it's free, reduces moms chance of breast cancer, helps the baby to be immune, and makes the mothers uterus return to normal size quicker.

Breast feeding cons: it can be socially unacceptable, it's time consuming, mother can leak, it can be painful, the mothers medication may be hazardous, and you don't know when's enough.

Bottle feeding pros: you can measure, it's always available, father can help, easy in public, returning to work will be convenient, and it reduces weakness.

Bottle feeding cons: you have to buy, mixing, can get thrush, have to boil everything, if not mixed correctly baby can choke, possibility of an allergic response.
