September 2022
Note from the Principal
It has been a great start to the 2022/2023 school year. I'm finishing this newsletter as the Fall Scholastic Book Fair closed. It is so fun to see families in the building. Smiles were everywhere. Thank you for continually supporting WES.
Take a moment to review the Future Events. We have some great opportunities happening over the next 6 weeks.
One of our Future Events is our PTO Walk-A-Thon. Information and collection envelopes are coming home today in Friday folders. The money raised for the Walk-A-Thon comes directly back to support WES. PTO covers items such as transportation cost for field trips (Have you seen how much gas costs?), instructional material for teachers, special treats for students and staff, and student t-shirts. This year, I've requested to add a couple of additions to the playground. I've included a couple of pictures below so you are aware of where some of the funds will be directed. Our playgrounds are frequented outside of school hours, so your donations go back to support the community.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding as our car drop off and pick up lines have grown. While the line has grown, the time from start to finish has remained the same as last year. A few reminders:
- Adults should stay in the car.
- Please have your children unbuckled and backpacks on when you pull up to your color.
- Do not pull out of the line of 8 cars unless instructed to do so by a staff member. The line might be stalled for a reason you are not aware of. For example, a child got hurt as they were getting out of the car. Staff were attending the hurt child so not able to move cars around. While it might be frustrating, please remember we are doing our best to keep students and staff safe.
- Please pull to the end of the sidewalk to buckle or assist your child with buckling their seat belt.
- We really appreciate your support
I hope you all have a great 3 day weekend. We'll be on Fall Break before you know it.
Much Love,
Mrs. Speidel

A Note From Mrs. Perry
As I’ve gotten to know your students, I have learned that many of them have experienced grief. Due to this, I’ve decided to offer a grief group and purchased the “Grief Monster Group”. In this group, we will discuss feelings we have when we lose someone we love, ways to cope with our loss, and things we can do to feel better. It is a 6 week group that will allow the students to learn from one another and enhance their understanding of grief. I would like to invite all students to join and will be sending home a permission slip in Friday folders. If you would like your child to participate please sign and return the form. Once I receive the permission slip I will figure out a best time during the school day to meet with the group(s). Please keep an eye out in the folders and return the slip by September 12th.
Thank you,
Mrs. Perry
