Panther Press
October 14, 2022
It's that time of year again for our Prairie students and families to display their pumpkin prowess. Age categories are as follows: Kinder - First, Second-Third, and Fourth-Fifth.
Contest Guidelines
- Pumpkins may be creatively decorated any way the artist chooses as long as it is appropriate for the school setting (no weapons accessories, no candles with open flames or dry ice). Battery-operated candles are permitted.
- Pumpkins entered by students should be designed and created by students. Adults may assist if carving is involved. However, it's encouraged that most of the work be done by the student entering the contest.
- Pumpkins will be accepted beginning Wednesday, October 26 from 7:45 a.m through 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, October 27. Late entries may be displayed but may miss out on voting by the majority of students.
- Voting is limited to students only. Students will vote electronically during their specialist time.
Winners will be announced at the Friday, October 28 assembly. Entries must be picked up by 5:30 p.m. during the PTO Halloween Carnival. All pumpkins left after 5:30 p.m. will be recycled.
Communication Between School and Home
We offer many tools to communicate information with our families. Prairie utilizes our website and auto dialer system to keep parents up to date on current events and activities at school. While online you can visit the Yelm Community Schools website to see upcoming events, announcements, and reminders from around the district. During office hours, you can call the front office to speak to a staff member. Teachers are available to return phone calls before and after school hours, or during their prep time. Unfortunately, many of our staff do not have voicemail available to them. Our office staff will gladly give a message to your child’s teacher so they can contact you. If you prefer e-mail communication, any staff member can be contacted by checking our website. We appreciate your communication with us and encourage you to contact us whenever there is a concern, information you would like to share if you would like to brag about your child, or just want to keep in touch.
