Hunting Ridge Hawk Happenings

Welcome Back to School 2021

Getting ready...

Hunting Ridge Families:

We are so excited to welcome our students and families back to the new year. Families should now see classroom assignments in Infinite Campus. If they do not, please contact the school office. There may be some enrollment documents that are needed. Once we receive these documents, we will assign children to classrooms. Please let us know what we can do to help families.

There are some new teachers added to our staff this year. Most recently we are welcoming Miss Stevens to our first grade team, Miss Wolski to our third grade team, Miss Miller as our building substitute, and Mrs. Calderone our nurse.

We highly encourage families to visit the school this week if they have documents, school medical forms, or physicians orders with medications that are needed for our first day of school. This will alleviate congestion on Meet the Teacher day and allow parents to return to work should quickly.

Meet the Teacher is set for Tuesday, August 17 from 8:30 - 9:30 AM. Parents and students are required to wear masks. Parking will be limited on this day. We encourage people to walk to school if they are able. This is a great day for photos outside of the school at the end of Meet the Teacher. Signs will be posted to help direct families. Meet the Teacher will end at 9:30 AM so that teachers can return to their learning.

Bus routes and times are visible in Infinite Campus. Please feel free to call our school office if you are having trouble viewing this.

More information will follow related to school arrival and drop-off procedures.

Fondly,

Mrs. Ortlund

What is the same? What is different?

Many families are wondering about details of this year. Below is a short summary to help answer questions.

What is the same?

The most important thing to know is that guidelines may change the way that school looks over the course of the year and our district, schools, and families will need to be flexible to adjust as changes are made. Thank you in advance.

Students riding the bus this year will be in assigned seats to allow for more accurate contact tracing if necessary. We ask for your help to keep siblings sitting together and students in their proper seat. Students are required to wear masks on the bus.

Students will be eating in many locations in the building that include classrooms and the cafeteria. Students may be divided in a classroom while eating to help us put more distance between students while they eat lunch unmasked. Students can reunite with classmates and friends in recess zones outside. We will continue to use the 20-20-20 model to help us with transitions and hand washing. Students will eat lunch for 20 minutes, have outdoor recess for 20 minutes and have indoor recess for 20 minutes.

Hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout the building for students to use.

Volunteers and outside organizations are not permitted in the building for the start of the year. This will be revisited.

Desks are positioned at least 3 feet apart from each other to help maintain distancing.

What is different?

Drinking fountains will be turned on.

At this time, we will not be taking temperatures when students enter. However, students will still be required to line up outside so that a staff member can verify they have their lanyard and symptoms card with them. These will be distributed the first day of school.

Students will have access to recess equipment for the start of the year. Students will wash hands when they reenter the building from after morning arrival and at the lunch hour.

Students will be able to check out library books this year. Classroom teachers will let families know when this exciting day is scheduled for the class.

Residency/Registration

Online student registration for the 2021-22 school year is now open. If you have not already started this process for your student(s), please visit our registration page to start this process.

Registration is the first step in getting ready for the up-coming school year. After you register your child online you need to:

  1. Pay student fees. Our student fee webpage outlines the District’s student fee structure and the three ways fees can be paid.

  2. If you have a student that is starting Kindergarten, entering fourth grade, or entering 7th grade, you are required to prove residency in District 15. Our residency webpage outlines the documents you will need to provide to prove residency. All D15 schools’ front offices will be open until 7pm on June 8 and 14 for anyone needing assistance to register their child online or prove residency.

All three steps of the enrollment process must be completed prior to the start of the school year. Students of families that, when required, do not prove residency, will not be able to attend class in a District 15 until the family’s residency is verified.
